I was rear-ended a few weeks ago. When I went to the ER, I told the admitting person that I take Concerta. I was told to take Darvocet for the pain. I refused because I was not sure how the Darvocet would interact with the Concerta. I think the prescription literature says not to combine Concerta with any depressants, and I believe Darvocet is one. The nurse said that Concerta can be taken with Darvocet, but I refused it anyway.
I am able to take over the counter pain relievers. (The ER didn't offer that...Grrr!)
Thank goodness I was conscious and able to tell that I didn't want the heavy duty pain med.
I wonder if it'd be worth looking into an alert bracelet in case of a more severe accident....

I understand you concern with drug interactions and I'm not sure how Concerta reacts with heavy duty pain killers but one of the best people to ask would be your local pharmacist. Whenever the dr. gives me a prescription I ask him about interactions but I ALWAYS ask the pharmacist. This is what they go to school for and they have all the up to date info. or can find out the answer. The ID braclet isn't a bad idea either. Ask the pharmacist about major groups of meds that you might have to take in an emergency like cold meds or presription pain killers so you know for the future.
