Pretty sure we got this figured out. I dont have Meralgia Paresthetica (wish I did...because it sounds better than the alternative diagnosis that I'm probably going to end up with instead)

I finally got a doctor to listen to me and do more tests (MRI's) and now I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is...

Hi Erin,
See you are on line - I know it's been a while since you posted in MP. What diagnosis did you get? I am curious because I had MP for 2 1/2 years that has now developed into Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Thanks! A.K.

Sorry, I just noticed that you posted.

It's definately not MP... I got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 5 days after I posted my original message.

I think I would have rather had MP than MS.

Erin,

Stay strong and don't freak about the MS diagnosis. There are so many treatments available now that are really helping. My co-worker was diagnosed last year and she is still going strong. At times, I too think that that is my problem. We will see... Hang in there! Laurie

PS My daughters name is Erin..

Just noticed you posted (I can blame the recent BT difficulties for not seeing this sooner)

I freaked out about the MS for a few months, but I'm calming down about it now. I'm actually trying to get a second opinion, but the stupid doctors at the local MS clinic keep cancelling my appointment (FOUR TIMES NOW!! grrr!!) so I havent been able to get the second opinion yet.

I'm going to see if I can get them to re-test me for Lyme disease, since I have a few suspicions about the possibility of Lyme. I've had 3 to 4 tick bites in my life. (3 of them in 1998 and 1999, and one when I was 12) I even had a rash in early 2000 (tick bites were late 1999), so I think I have a compelling reason to try to get the doctors to re-test me. Hopefully a few more times if I get negative results.

The numbness in my hip has actually improved! Yay! It only took 13 months. It's still there, just has really improved. Shaving my legs doesnt make my skin crawl (much) anymore, so no more grossing people out with unshaved legs. :D

Now if I can just get my vision problem to improve, along with the other occasional neurological symptoms, I'd be a happy camper
