I was wondering if anybody out there has ever had the coiling procedure with stent placement in the basilar artery of the brain. I am one that has had that done and I'm doing very well at the moment. The only thing that I am experiencing is the fact that I can't seem to be able to get off the Plavix. Every time that it is discontinued, I have blinky lights and blind spots in my vision. When I restart the Plavix, all the symptoms go away. I have seen a neurologist in Duke and he suggested Lopressor for a while and then stop the Plavix again. I am not too happly about this suggestion because of the side effects of beta blockers. He has suggested that maybe I am having migraines, but I don't think so. I hope that someone can give me some insight to this. Thanks, Rach

Hi Rach,
Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to say Hi and hope everything turns out OK.
I was on plavix for six months but for a different reason. I had a heart attack and had to have a stent put in two years ago. I was able to get off the plavix after six months.
I am now on a heart med and coumadin to thin my blood as I had a blood clot in my lung this last June.
Anyways, good talking to you and I wish you the best.
Linda
