I have been diagnosed with Generalized Dystonia, but given a trial of Stalevo, which is mainly a Parkinson's medication. It has helped tremendously, where nothing else ever did. This most likely places me in the "dopa-responsive dystonia" category.

I was wondering if anyone on here has used Stalevo and, if so, what were your experiences with it? I am on 50mg at this point, just having worked up to four times per day. About 15-20 minutes after I take it, it seems like someone has flipped a switch and my movements/spasms stop all of a sudden. It only lasts about 3 hours, though, and they return just as suddenly. It works better at some times than others - mornings are good, but it does not work as well in the evenings. Seems like it also works best on an empty stomach.

Should it last longer when I go up to 100mg each dose? I heard that you really should not take it closer than four hours apart - is that true?

I don't go back to my doc until March, although I can call him with concerns that I may have.

Thanks
Ramona
