Hey all.
I woke up sometime early (probably between 1-3am) and felt really sick (nauseous etc), so i decided to hit the washroom. After standing up, I felt kind of dizzy. Sat in the bathroom for 5 mins, trying to stop the nausea before heading back to bed.
After standing up, dizziness came again. All the sudden, my vision got very fuzzy and dark as I was trying to get back to my bedroom, and I ended up backing out right in front of my door. Just to clarify, I mean literally passed out/lost consciousness momentarily.
Usually, I'd question if it really happened, as opposed to being a dream or something, but dad found the bathroom light on this morning, and it was definitely off until my trip to the bathroom earlier.

Now, I'm trying to figure out what caused me to black out. Currently, I'm still battling a cold (I think it's actually strep or something because my GP gave me a prescription) but this has never happened before..

Has anyone else had a cold cause a blackout? Only reason I'm asking is because my NS changed my setting from 190 to 90 last Friday (..his reasoning made a lot of sense) and I'm trying to rule out possibilities.
Blacking out really scared me.

Thanks. Hope everything is going well for everyone out there!

Hey Laura, things really arent going too well for you are they? :(
Things have got to start settling down, i think you've had your fair share now.

I get the blacking out quite alot, but i must say, recently it hasnt been troubling me much when i think about it. When my spouts of it come on, it seems to happen lots, like everytime i rise to my feet.
I was tested for that ortho hypertension, (or something) but there was nothing to suggest it was that, as there wasnt much change in blood pressure.
Could it be a change in blood pressure due to a cold?

Its also a sign of papildema, but that cant always be tested, as the only visable sign is the blurred disk margins and swelling, which is only seen when its very late down the line. Thats normally accompanied with headaches, particularly in the morning and blurred vision?
But im sure you know that. :P

Really do hope things strat to look up for you and that this pressure change sorts you out for good!!!

Hi Laura,

So sorry things aren't going well. My wife (no hydro) has also blacked out momentarily twice. Both times when she wasn't feeling well and both times when she got up to go to the bathroom from being in bed. So I don't think it's necessarily something serious. That said, given the recent changes to your pressure settings, I'd watch for any other symptoms very closely and assume pressure just to be on the safe side. It may be nothing more than you're cold but, unfortunately, you're probably better assuming it's pressure. Definitely better safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon.

Laura!!

I've had the feeling of almost blacking out, but I've only fainted once. Do you think your setting is too low? Having headaches still? Maybe it is the cold doing this.. but I wouldn't assume so. The dizziness and nausea sounds like pressure to me.

Feel better, love! xoxoxo
