I tried to do a search on this......Did any of you have episodes of vertigo/dizziness prior to having surgery? I know it can be an issue afterwards. I have unruptured annies and have episodes of vertigo which sometimes can last for weeks. I suppose it could be an inner ear thing. Really hope I haven't asked this question already:D

Figured out the search option. There's lots of stuff on here about it. ;-)

Whippet, that is exactly how I found out about my aneurysm. I was dizzy, walking like a drunk sailor (when I could walk) and I went to an ent. They sent me to the neuro, and alas, with MRI, and CTA, I have an aneurysm. amazing how they said it had nothing to do with the aneurysm.I still have some problems, like when I turn over in bed, I have to be very careful and not open my eyes at all and then I have to be real stil "too settle everything in. Bazar !!!! ging

That's a very good description Ging, I felt exactly like that 2 days ago. It came out of no where and I felt exhausted and weird all the next day. Ended sleeping on the couch that night. It is baffling to me how they say, its not a symptom. I don't go in again until later next year but if this gets worse I'll be going in sooner for sure.

Where is everyone? It seems to be very quiet right now. Hope you are having a good night.

I was Moses again, i wish I could run the sweeper at night and get some things done while searching for sleep, don't think Hubbie would go for that. Quiet is a good thing maybe or, it football season??????

Usually vertigo originates in the inner ear. From medication or damage to the inner ear from meds. Also allergies can cause it. Look up benign positional vertigo.

Ging, yes it is football season. This is the first time in quite a while that I'm actually into watching it. I don't have to think at all and I get to yell every once in a while at the tv. Quite exillerating (sp) at times, lol.

Berykute - Thank you. I've checked that out. As a matter a fact I've been to two ENT's and been on meclizine for the vertigo. I'll take a closer look, who knows maybe they missed something.

I had vertigo and it was a major symptom of my aneurysm (unruptured). Unfortunately, I didn't put all of the symptoms together for the same doc, or I might have found mine earlier.

I started having vertigo 3 years prior to the discovery of my annie. My dr couldn't figure out why I was getting it but figured it started when I got a cold and was an inner ear thing, than when they found the annie my dr was like, OH, that explains it LOL I think vertigo is one of the worse of all the symptoms. Yuck, no one should ever have to feel that way!

How strange to read this thread. I started getting vertigo quite badly about 6 months before my annie was diagnosed. I was told it wasnt a symptom of the annie but more to do with my ears. I have never believed this and despite going thro umpteen tests with ENT department and the Hearing & Balance Department they could not find a reason for it. I already knew in my mind that it was due to the annie but even my husband who is a Dentist was pooh poohing my assumption. I am just going to show him this thread to try and convince him I was right. I have had a few episodes of vertigo since my clipping on 24th Aug but not as bad as they were previously. Its a shame that there isnt enough funds for researchers to conduct research into the subjects of vertigo and headaches in connection with annies. The NS's might then change their minds. Taffy x

It seems that drs truly know very little about annies and their symptoms. I am constantly being told by drs that certain symptoms could never be because of my annie, which coming on the forums I find is untrue. The people that know best about annies are annie survivors.

I also have had vertigo for quite some time as a symptom. Probably started in 2000 or so. I would call them episodes because they came so frequently and sometimes lasted for a few weeks. It would be more than a blessing if more research was done regarding symptoms espcially to show a pattern. That's what prompted me to go to an ENT originally, I saw a pattern with the frequency.
