Just wondering, i know someone might have an idea.....my right leg has been numb in the thigh for about 4 months now, i have gone to the regular doc had bloodwork and all, and they can't tell me what's wrong. At the time, I had severe numbness in my left hand and arm as well......Another thing, I have been waking up every other day sometimes, with extreme charlie horses, mostly in my feet, but sometimes my entire lower half is involved.
my doc says they don't see anything wrong. my friends say drink more water. i Do drink water though, and i do feel there's something more. Could there be a link from these symptoms to somehow my shunt over/under draining?
i don't have a neuro right now bc he stopped taking my insurance plan

I have similar symptoms sometimes. Initially I had dreamt up a "logical explanation" (along with fear) that it was from high pressure in my spine.
But thankfully it wasn't. But I do understand your concern as I still think one could get similar symptoms from that.
Mine is from tightening of my hip flexor muscles & maybe others and needing to see my Chiropractor (she's gentle, cautious and won't touch my neck except to massage it!)
I also go to my Osteopath and sometimes he does cranial sacro therapy which also helps.
I must warn you that there are several types of Osteopaths. You want the type that does "releasing" and massage work rather tha the ones who act as your family doctor but don't use the techniques mine does.
Anyway, I almost forgot to tell you that doing lunges will help if it is from tight flexor muscles.
I hope this helps. I am having bad headaches and trying to figure out
when to do what re trying to see my NS or maybe just get a Catscan. As I am getting daily mild? nausea (responds to a lie down & half a Gravol, several times each day) but then it comes back, and this is if I am not upright very much, I couldn't go today as I really couldn't handle being upright long enough to go.
Sorry I sort of hijacked your post-but I did offer a suggestion :D
Do get checked out if you can!

Thanks Cathy! Actually its nice to hear from others that i am not the only one who half freaks out on these things :p My stomach where the shunt ends used to totally charlie horse up on me too, and i'd be in the middle of work and have to stand up n stretch to the sky til it passed....probably about the only reason i wondered if it was related.
i also panic at the headaches, my last revision i just had a small headache, and my friends MADE me go get seen, but i am wayyyy not going to go be seen for every headache! So i have my family rub my neck n stuff usually :D
the osteopath idea sounds good though. Thanks again:)
