Hello.
Alison took today off from school for the big planned docs meeting. We have never had a meeting like this before, but we know from observations that this type of meeting can be quite dramatic, with quality of life matters being discussed. Because of Grant's challenges with breathing, we thought that perhaps there was going to be a discussion of him needing a tracheotomy, something that would be so disheartening for all. Needless to say we felt tense on the way to hospital.
On Sunday evening I posted the following

MUSTARD SEED FAITH
Mt 17:20 Jesus said "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
We need in prayer to move this mountain, which is the constant seizures that are uncontrollable. But Jesus is Lord, of Lords and King of kings. Anything is possible under God.

When the minister with the gift of healing prayed for Grant yesterday, he prayed that the mountain would shrivel up and become a mole hill.
PRAISE TIME :)
When we visited Grant today, the change in him was remarkable.
SEIZURES
The nasty tonic/clonic seizures have reduced significantly to a point that today we only saw about 5 of short duration and not much intensity :)
BREATHING
Grant is now on 5 litres of oxygen, a 50% drop since yesterday. His chest is not sucking in air at all. His oxygen stats are good :)
SUCTIONING
Grant has needed very little suctioning today :), however there is still gunk coming up looking like milk.
TEMPERATURE
Grant's temperature is around 37.6, which for him is pretty normal :)
BLOOD IN URINE
The blood tests for kidney function came back normal :) His urine now is not at all bloody :) It seems that the blood in the urine was because of muscle spasms with the bad seizures.
HEY GRANT, WHO'S ON FIRST
Today when we saw Grant, he smiled at Alison. We strongly believe that this was a response and not seizure related :)
There were a few loud noises in the ward today and Grant responded with a reflex action, which really is great, showing that he is coming back to himself :)
Grant is more alert :) When we talk to him, we can tell by his eyes that he is concentrating on listening.
There is still minor seizure activity, which is more than normal, but the decrease has been very dramatic.
THE VNS PROF OFFERS HER SUGGESTION AND WE ACCEPT :)
As you know the VNS prof last week felt that she wasn't the person to advise on drugs. However, bless her heart, she had input with the neuro team today and feels very strongly that Grant should go back on Keppra. (I think she likes Grant too much to not have any input while he is in hospital at the moment) :). Well, that is fine with us. Obviously the hospital is the best place for Grant to be in case the Keppra is the vomiting culprit. If Keppra is not the culprit, then we won't object for Grant to be on it for a while. Grant was started today on Gabapentin/Neurontin as per my request. The neuro team feel that this is not the sort of drug that can bring about much change considering Grant's condition when admitted. If the Neurontin doesn't help then we will wean Grant off of it. We don't want him to be on it for a long time, just for a short time to calm things down.
MEETING: UMM, WHAT MEETING? :)
The hospital social worker came around and had a chat to us, to which we shared Grant's wonderful story how God gave grant to us. :D
The social worker said that although a meeting was planned last night, the ICU team this morning felt that there was no need to have a meeting :) They also said that the plans now are for Grant to go into a ward = AHA, the changes overnight have been so impressive (God's hand on Grant), that the meeting was cancelled = YES! :)
THE SHOVELERS AND THE BULLDOZER'S :D ;)
I believe that from a Christian perspective, this is what has been happening.
Many of us have been praying with mustard seed faith that the mountain (the terrible condition that Grant has been in), will be removed. We have been shoveling away at the mountain in prayer bit by bit.
When the minister with the healing ministry visited yesterday, he got the bulldozer out (the specific healing anointing of God), and bulldozed (through God's authority) and commanded the mountain be removed and reduced to a mole hill!
Isn't that exciting. We have, as members of the Body of Christ been all involved in this wonderful work of God's Grace in action for Grant. I have to be honest. Over the last few days I had been thinking that this is it. Grant may die! Although Grant will one day die and be with Christ in heaven for eternity in a new body, without pain of suffering (an awesome thought), we do not believe that this is the time fo Grant.
KEEP PRAYING.
Please do keep praying for Grant as, although the mountain has been reduced in size, there is now continuous prayer needed to protect Grant and see him to recovery and see him safe and sound and home. The neuro registrar said that it will be some time before Grant is home as he needs to be more stable, and he does have a major infection.
SUMMARY
God is good. We sing and shout it :)
Saints, God bless you all, and of course hugs to the kiddos.
Paul, Alison and Grant at the moment counting kangaroos with a pulse rate of 80, so he is a cool dude, working hard towards champ mode again.
