:eek:I am new here. I've been kinda lurking around and reading what everyone
else's symptoms are. I just kinda wanted some feedback from people who are

affected by MS and not just by a doctor trying to figure out what's going on.

So this may be long I am sorry. On and off for the last couple of years I get these strange symptoms. Sometimes my arms and legs ache and nothing helps it. I can hardly hold my hairdryer to dry my hair. I can barely make it up the stairs in my house. I am soooo tired. It doesn't matter how much sleep I

get. I am always tired. I have dizziness, sometines my fingers are stiff and it's hard for me to grasp things. My legs feel tight at times like they are swollen, but they are not. I have gotten what I say feels like someone is putting a tazer to my neck. It doesn't radiate down my back, just stays in

my neck. My vision is very blurry at times. My head feels like it is too heavy for my neck to hold up. There are tons of other little things. I have had an MRI of brain which was negative, and a negative emg and nerve conduction study. My PCP seems to think MS and I am going to a new neurologist in October.
My question is, is any of this similar to anyone elses MS story? Sorry it is so long. Thanks in advance to any kind soul who answers!

Hi nursegoodbody and WELCOME!

It's hard to compare with any accuracy, but for me the onset of MS was a bit like what you describe. It's not too common to have a negative brain MRI with MS but it has happened.

Lesions might start showing up on later MRIs.

I hope your symptoms turn out to be something other than MS, something easily treatable, but if not, you'll have a lot of company on this board.

Good luck with the October neuro appointment!

I agree with Agate - MRI's can be negative, as can the other tests and you still have MS. Please let us know what happens at your appointment. Take the ORIGINAL MRI's or a CD copy with you. Some neuros like to look for themselves.

The first MRI I had when my doc suspected MS came back negative. He called over and the head radiologist re-read it. That radiologist said MS. The neuro took one look and said it was classic MS - in fact he kept it for a class he was teaching. Even I could see the lesions from across the room when he showed it to me.

Like Agate, I hope it turns out you have something easily fixable.

See if they will do an MRI of the cervical spine. I could not have been diagnosed by the brain MRI, but the cervical spine was definite. I have heard many others say similar things.

Good Luck,

Hi and welcome!

Negative MRI here too but symptom like fatigue (that's one of the hardest things to deal with), pain, blurry vision at times and bowel and bladder stuff.

Don't give up - you are your own best advocate. Hope you get some answers soon!

When you said 'tazer to the neck' it caught my attention. I had that symptom all the time when I was initially diagnosed. I could never explain it well, but you did! I remember the neuro brushing it off, and mumbling something about inflammation. I've never read anything about it, either. This is the first time I've heard anyone else mention it. It was so distinct and frequent. I'm PPMS, dx'd fall of 2001.
