Hello Everyone,
I just found this forum and am excited to talk with others
who are in the world of neurology.
Let me intoduce myself, I have a son who is 6 who has had
febrile seizures when he was a toddler, then developed generalized epilepsy, and now Lennox Gastaut syndrome. They tell me he has a moderate to severe case of it. Wondering if anyone knows how this syndrome progresses, and what happens to kids that have this.
He has tonic, tonic-clonic, atonic, atypical absence seizures.
(Not all at once, though!:p
Anyway, any information is appreciated.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that your son has epilepsy. There is a space for a Lennox Gastaut forum here on BT but sadly, no one has been there. There is an active epilepsy forum. http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=144

Dietary intervention should not be overlooked in the treatment of epilepsy. Hopkins developed the ketogenic diet http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/answerplace/Medical/treatment/diet/ and has used it for years. There have been some people who have reported improvement on a gluten free diet. Here is some information on diet and seizures. http://jccglutenfree.googlepages.com/seizuresepilepsy. There is a gluten sensitivity/celiac disease forum here on BT.

I hope you can find help for your child.

Welcome! :) I am so sorry about your little guy's LGS. :( My best friend's little boy, six months old, was dx'ed with Infantile Spasms about a month ago and is now on ACTH with good control. LGS is a great fear for his future, so I understand your worries. :( (((((((HUGS))))))).

Please come to the Child Neurology forum here:

http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=115 There are many warm, friendly, knowledgeable folks who can help.

God bless,

LIZARD :)
