HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!!!

Haven't got time to post anything else just now but I'll try to come back later today.

Hope everyone has a peaceful, addiction-free day! :)

Did everyone have a good Labor Day? Mine was quiet, but that's okay. :) It gave me a chance to work on a large (24") autumn wreath I've been wanting to make to put out in the community room of the apartment building. :) I'm done - I think. I always like to leave my floral arrangements sit overnight and then look at them again. It's easier to be more objective about them then. Sometimes I leave them alone and sometimes I add things - just depends. ;)

Here's a reading from "Finding Your Strength in Difficult Times" - by David Viscott -

Don't Give Up

Let the positive forces in your life take over.
You have to risk rejection to get what you want.
You have to risk failure to find success.
Learn to cherish, not lament.
Find the ally, not the enemy.
Remember the long term goals during your short-term problems.
Instead of imagining negative things that fill you with terror, invent positive things that fill you with purpose.

Don't give up, give more.

I yield to the good.
I come from strength.
I give my best.

~~~~~~~~
As I was reading this I kept thinking to myself -- hmm, it sounds SO simple.
Who wouldn't want to let the positive forces "take over"? And who wouldn't want to take risks if the outcome was guaranteed to be something positive?? Learning to cherish and having an ally sounds great too. Keeping sight of the "bigger picture" when facing problems makes sense. And replacing negative thoughts with positive and purposeful ones is certainly something everyone would want to do, right?? RIGHT!!
But DOING these 'wonderful' things for ourselves isn't nearly as easy as it is to simply read about it. :rolleyes:
I must admit that I would like to say that I have mastered even ONE thing mentioned in the reading, but sadly, that's just not true. :( But most of the time I guess I can say that I "Don't give up", I "give more". ;) As someone said to me today - "I'm a work in progress." And I hope I always will be - working, changing, growing, becoming the best "me" I can be. :)
How about you??? What thoughts came to mind as you read this???
Have a peaceful night. :)
