Hello all. I typically post over on Child Neuro.

I had an event come up a couple of days ago that hasn't happened before now.

Extreme pain on the right side of my right foot woke me about 3 am.

This is the same location I broke my foot when I was in my early 20s.

I walked on the foot all day yesterday and had a really hard time falling asleep. So, I too a couple of my migraine meds, Fioricet w/ Codeine. The foot woke me again 4 hours later when the meds wore off. So, I took another dose of the Fioricet.

The foot really aches today but not like it did last night.

The odd thing is the foot hurts in the same exact place I broke the foot in my 20s. I am now 44 yo.

The pain radiated up my leg into my gluts.

A side note that may or may not be related...

For the last several years, I have had a great deal of numbness in all 4 of my limbs. My hands fall asleep while I sleep yet I am not laying on that side. My Doctor checked my blood pressure in both arms to make sure I didn't have narrowing of the arteries or a clot. The pressure was the same. I don't know if the numbness is related the pain I now have in my foot.

I did some searches on RSD. The skin isn't discolored. The foot isn't swollen. It actually hurts worst now than it did when I broke the foot. And I haven't re injured the foot. :p

Very strange deal.

Anybody have any ideas?

I did decide if I need codeine to sleep than I need to see my Doc first day after the holidays.

Thanks for the assist.

RSD typically shows up with in days or as with me 2 weeks. I have never heard of anyone getting RSD 20+ years after an injury when there has been no recent injury. So that's the good news!! :-D It was good you did a bit of research and you have none of the hallmarks of RSD.

I'd say your doc and see if he can figure it out. It could be something to do with a nerve or maybe even something in your back. The numbness in limbs is sometimes caused by a nerve being pressed on in the spine somewhere. Sort of the same thing as with the sciatic nerve but that is different pain. I've had problems with mine and man does it hurt! Starts in my butt, hip area and shoots down one leg, usually the left. OUCHIE!!

I wish you much luck and hope your doc can get to the bottom of it. Make sure to tell him about the pain, what it felt like and all that jazz. Maybe an MRI of your back would be a good idea to make sure that all's well there.

Hugs
