Did you ever notice when you go into an ER once they know you suffer from a mental illness it doesn't matter what your problem is they just assume it is your illness nothing physical. My daughters Dr. was the same way they don't want to do testing for anything because it is all in her head. You don't get treated in a normal way you become just a number. I wanted to yell at the way they treated her it's not right.

Some feel it seems to help to have another person there to advocate for the patient... to reinforce the issue that there is a physical problem.

Still there is that stereotype... People with mental illness are "freaks."

Yes, I work in ERs and have noticed a real double standard in the way people with mental illness are treated as opposed to "just medical" clients
