View Full Version : When a Thread Has Been Read

Before this Braintalk was redone, the threads used to be in bold when they were new and after I had seen them they went to regular type. Now they are all in bold for about two weeks prior to my last visit.
I looked on User CP and I can't find where to change it so that when I go to my page such as multiple sclerosis, the threads I had already seen would be in regular type.
This was very hard to explain so I hope somebody can understand it. How can I fix this problem?

Hi Queen1 :)
I suspect that you are using Internet Explorer? If you are, then the problem you're having is due to this particular version of vB software not liking how IE handles cookies.
After you finish reading your threads today, goto the main index and scroll all the way to the bottom.
Click on the "mark all forums read" link.
Then up in the very top page (above the white address bar) click on "tools"
Click on "internet options".
Click on the "delete files" button.
Click on the "settings" button.
Click on the "view files" button.
Find and delete any file that has brain in it.
Close that window.
Click the "ok" button.
Click the "clear history" button.
Click the "yes" button.
Click the "ok" button.
Next time you visit all should be "right". You will have to log in again since you deleted the cookies for BrainTalk.

Well it also could be because we are using "DATABASE" thread tracking now Mike instead of "COOKIE BASED" thread tracking like we were before...... (I think COOKIE BASED is much better and LESS hogging on the database)

Good point :)
But database tracking works just fine on the latest version of vB and IE 6 and IE 7.
Definately something that John needs to get done sooner or later.

But if you forget to click MARK ALL READ it messes you all up on the next login.....
It was working fine on COOKIE BASED,why did you change it?? (Your only making it harder on your own db)
Please forgive my harsh tone,im in a bad mood right now.....

Mike, You wrote "forgived" but it's "forgiven", on the other page. Didn't you go to school? .... Just kidding around, I'm a nut who loves to tease. Ask someone who knows me. LOL
