I just wanted to introduce myself & give you a little history in my first post.
I am John and have been disabled for a little over 6 years. I hope to be able to contribute to this board and offer some help to others currently going through the process.
During my approval process, I had some major problems with my attorney's/firm. On top of dropping the ball many times during the paperwork buildup towards my hearing, one of the things they did was not respond to the Administrative Law Judge who was handling my case. I found this out on the day of my hearing when the judge opened up the hearing by asking my attorney "why didn't you respond to either (there was 2 tries from the judge) of my offers to settle this last October?" My hearing was in the end of January of the following year.
That was a great feeling sitting down before the judge and realizing he's not happy with the attorney who's representing you. LOL
It turns out the Judge offered an on the record decision to settle my case in my favor and I didn't need to go to the hearing if my attorney's had responded.
Anyway, after receiving my settlement and everything was official I spent many hours of my time writing the various State & Federal Government Boards & Grievance Committees and Bar Associations. It took 2 years, but I finally received a letter from the State Greivance Committee in the district where my attorney's practiced, informing me they came to the decision my attorney's had breached the Code of Professional Responsibility issued a Reprimand to the firm for not adequately supervising the attorney's & non-attorney's in his firm.
This Reprimand is permanently on their record and will be brought into consideration should anyone else complain about them in the future.
If anyone is experiencing problems or "feet dragging" by your attorney's don't stand for it.
Thank you,
John :)

Yes unfortunately they got paid. I disputed that directly with a letter to the ALJ. He allowed them to be paid.
As far as getting their finger slapped, I don't look at it that way. After going through the hoops, SSD makes you jump through to get approved and waiting all that time, I guess it was just really a moral victory for me and it made all the work seem worthwhile. Not a "big deal". Just a small one.

Thanks John:

I am going to be going through the same thing with the workman's comp attorney that my husband hired. That little witch had the nerve to tell me that she was the judicial side and didnt really care about the medical part, and that was all she was hired for was to get my husband to a doctor that could diagnosis his injury correctly.

I have been doing my research and if that firm had know the laws and regulations they are paid to represent then they would have jumped all over the worker comp carrier.

So many violations:

You have the right to see a doctor who hold a specialized license in the area inwhich you claim injury..to this date they have never sent my husband to a specialist.

You have a right to see a doctor inwhich there is no conflict of interest, this doctor worked from my husband's employer..durn that sounds like a conflict of interest right there.

That is me, I dont care if they all they get is a slap on the hand, I want them to know what they did was wrong. They should know the laws inwhich their practice is based.
