sprung a leak

hi everyone, been 4 weeks since my decompression surgery for acm and it started to leak. recent mri shows its leaking from the base of the dura that was sealed. surgeon is concerned and he does not want to put me through another surgery(this would make it number 8)so he wants to give it 2 weeks.
in the meantime i have an elastic bandage around the base of the neck and skull to keep pressure on the site. back of my neck puffs out from the fluid and i also get headaches. if headaches get worse,get a hi fever or fluid leaks through the skin i am to notify the surgeon and head to the emergency room.
in the meantime if it doesn't seal by the time i see him ,he is going to go back in and seal the leak. no other choice

headaches come and go......taking pain relievers...not as bad like they were a week ago...but accasionly they flare up....if they get real bad i will lay down and they subside....as for waiting a couple of weeks i can deal with it......not looking forward to another surgery...but if it happens so be it ........i still have a great surgeon...and i am like the energizer rabbit..i keep going and going and............................

Thinking of you Dave.....I don't have chiari thing but am recupperating from a spontaneous leak......sounds like you have been through the mill this go around already....I hope it heals on its own for you.....best wishes

Hi Davek.....my Son Now 25 Has Acm, It Started 3 Years Ago. The First Operation Was Like A Drain, Dr Said The Brain Was Down About 13mm, They Opened Him Up Out Went The Fluid And He Said The Brain Had Shifted Back Into The Skull, He Removed Tissue And Sewed Him Back Up Done........wrong. Months Later Mri Showed Same Thing, 13mm Herrnia. Went Back In Put Screen And A Patch, 1 Week In Hosp And The Last Day His Pillow Was Soaked, Back To The Hosp, Houston We Got A Leak, Coming From The Staples, Long Story...the Thought Was To Put A Shunt In To Out Smart The Brain, There Is A Blockage We Needed 2 Shunts, One On Each Side.he Has Had Some Fluid Come Out Of His Eye From Time To Time. Dr Said Sinus Fluid ??? The Shunts Are Working But My Son 25 Is Not, Today We Are Waiting On Something To Happen I Think, He Takes His Meds To Comfort Pain Mgt. The Spinal Pressure Is Too High For What Ever Reason, His Body Makes Too Much Spinal Fluid Or There Is A Blockage Between The Two Ventricals ,we Are Waiting, All The Best To You...
