I know that many of you go over there too. I just tried to go and it said "PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED".
After reading that the other neuropathy site got hacked, I wonder if something happened to this site also.
Anyone know???

Alan just came home from all the blood tests. They took 5 vials of blood, then they sent him to another lab for a glucose tolerance test. We thought it would be a 3 hour ordeal but they just gave him some sweet stuff and told him to come back in one hour. So we did.
All result will take about 10 days so I'll update. Wouldn't it be a gas if we get to the real reason why this guy has PN? Now wouldn't that be something.
So far, everytime he reads something, he says "Oh, that's why I have PN". So far, in his mind, he has rhematoid arthritis, lupus, autoimmune stuff going on, gullian barre, ashkenazi jewish stuff (he's jewish, so he jumped on that one), everything he reads, he assumes thats why he has PN.
We may never find out why but at least we can rule out a lot of things.
Will update. Hope all of you are good and I hope BT 2 gets back on track.

Mel,
This is georgeous, but for some reason, moving things make me nauseaus. I just peeked at it an looked away.

It is more than georgeous and I love the color. Hope you and Alen are ok. That test took me much longer and I had to lie down the whole time. UUGH. I'd just as soon have them stick the needles in me again as drink that stuff.
Have a merry merry as you say! I love to add the Christmas part as well so Merry Merry Christmas to you and yours.

P.S. Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Melody,
The graphic is lovely. No problem with looking at her little wings waving. Thanks for changing this. I think the exhaustion from the trip, etc is still there. We've had to contend with taking one dog to the vet, Christmas, and my husband's doctor appointment for his back. Just haven't had time to even unpack. And I start theraphy on Thurs.
Maybe things will settle down. Sure hope so.

Mel,
I'm surprised they only gave the 1 hour glucose test.
The readings for the 3 & 5 hour (see posts from 'glenntaj') are much more revealing and detailed and also can indicate glucose intolerance.
As far as the "Jewish stuff" there was (or maybe is ongoing) - a study, regarding PN as hereditary in Ashkenazic-Middle European Jewish genes.
My neuro (@ Johns Hopkins) was aware of it, and ruled that out for me early in the game, as I have the same heriditary background.

ONLY FIVE????? My last round of serious blood work [aside from the cancer stuff {well, I sorta had a 'base line' already} was almost 2 years ago, and before the GTT a 3 hour 'shortie', they took about 6-7? I have to guess I was lucky that the 'pudding' came out in the SPINAL?
I agree with BobB about the one hour test tho... I didn't show up as diabetic tho a 7 hour test in the '70's indicated I was Hypoglycemic. Treating it is sort of the same but a bit different in what you eat to bounce back in terms of sugars and carbs.
I'm getting lazy from my own life experiences I guess. Don't panic till you get a diagnosis! Otherwise you fill your mind up with too much unnecessary info! Essentially, chill a bit, let the docs do their thing, and, if not, push 'em if needed with a bulldozer? Sounds like your docs are 'doing', let them! Maybe have a bit of fun for the next couple of weeks?
Shucks, I can live sort of vicariously thru your experiences?!!! Hugs - j

Because I'm diabetic, I have the monitor and I've been testing Alan's sugar for years. Never goes above 80. And never goes below it.
So I think it's safe to assume he doesn't have some kind of sugar problem, right?
Everytime I pass by the computer and Alan is diligently looking at the screen, I sneak up and I realize he is yet again looking up some cause of PN.
Today he told me "I know exactly why I have this, I have Rhematory Arthritis. I told him "before you diagnose yourself, learn how to say it".
We burst out laughing.
At least we can laugh. So that's a good thing.
Oh, I do believe I do NOT have a diabetic stomach. I feel fine, no more diarreah and lo and behold, yesterday, I ate a baked potato with some turkey burger and a little muffin for dessert and of course nothing after 7 p.m. (as is my custom) and this morning my sugar was 90.
Lost 2 more lbs too. Doctor says I have 45 to go. Jeez, what does he want me to do, look like Paris Hilton!!!!

Hey, I'm ahead in the blood vial race. Mayo took 14 the first time including one that had to go into a thermal type cup and dry ice in it. Then two days later they took 6 more. Then they also took biopsies, (more blood believe me!) Those folks have enough blood from me for a vampire to live forever.
Love,
Billye
