My son and his wife just had their second son last Friday! This is our 6th grandchild (second grandson). Mom and baby are doing great. He's a little cutie with lots of dark hair and beautiful coloring.
It doesn't matter how many grandchildren come our way, each one is very loved and greeted with the same excitement as the first.
It seems like not many people come here any more and the board is painfully slow, but I wanted to share anyway. It's hard to stay quiet when such joyous occassions come our way.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You look about 35 yrs old yourself !!! I had no idea!
Nonetheless, I am very happy for you and wish you, baby and family all the best. What a way to end the year.
I cannot wait for another grandchild to be born, but it doesn't look like it will be soon. I know how much fun you'll have & I'm glad baby & mom are OK.
CONGRATULATIONS, Hope
Hi Julie,
How lucky you are. I hope they live nearby so you can fulfill your grandmotherly role of spoiling the kid rotton.
My daughter got pregnant in h.s.. and went pretty wild for way too long after giving birth to our first grandson. We literally raised him for his first two years. We loved him as much as we loved (and still love) all four of our children. He filled our lives with joy.
I have always loved babies, but maybe even more so now as I am too weak to hold kids after about their second birthday. If I could do it, and lived in a larger town where people were needed to do it, I would volunteer to hold and feed babies in a maternity ward. There is a need for such volunteers in large cities.
I remember that after our last child was born, my wife told me the nurse brought her (baby) into her (wife), with the intention of leaving her for several hours.
She told the nurse, "I have three kids at home and the only time I can get away from kids is when I come here to deliver another one. Take her back".
I know she was only half joking.
Again, Mazeltov!! Enjoy...Vic
How wonderful - 6 grandchildren for you to love and spoil. It is really fun being grandparents, because you can invite the family to visit, and when you get tired of the children and grandchildren, you can send everybody home (as long as they don't live at your house). LOL! :)

Thanks everyone! All of my children and grandchildren live nearby so they get very spoiled. You can get away doing things as a grandma that endears you to the children.:D
Vic, you are a tenderhearted man. I love holding little babies, too. I was just telling my husband how much more I love cradling little boys in my arms. I look at them and realize how precious that time is - when they are free to cry without shame, be smothered by kisses without being embarrassed, and live without the weight of so many responsibilities on their shoulders. I still remember holding my boy in my arms and now I hold his. God is good.
Thanks again,
Julie

I am glad your grandchildren are near you. :) Mine are across the country and I see them 1 - 2 times per year. It is so sad. :( We talk on the phone occasionally (it is a long story). I did not see my grandson until he was a year old and I had such severe pain, I couldn't hold him. I've never been able to. I've hugged him though. He is so precious. I hope you get to see him often. BTW, most of the people went over to the new RSD forum. Ada, Claudia, etc.
I like it better here but you are right, it is slow here now.My daughter is 35 and has tried for 2 years to have a baby. Twice, two years ago she got to 6 weeks and miscarried. Nothing since then. Lots of tests that do not show why.
:) What a wonderful time of the year for you to be blessed with a grandson. I wish everyone could experience that joy, so ENJOY and give an extra hug from me! By the way, I think it is therapy for pain patients to be able to rock a baby as it soothes you. Hope

Hi everyone,
I just got back from a weeklong holiday trip to be with extended family. These kinds of trips aren't necessarily vacations, but I feel fortunate to belong to such a large family that remains close throughout the years.
Thanks for the additional congrats. Hope, I'm sorry about your daughter's losses. It doesn't matter how far along a person is in pregnancy, it is still painful to lose a child. I hope things work out for her.
You're right, holding a baby is great therapy. It's easy to forget about your own troubles while staring at their beautiful faces.
Claudia, I'm glad you figured out how to log in. It's nice to see your smiling avatar again. How exciting that Emily is going to be a big sister. I'm sure you'll find the same thing that I did - there is a never ending supply of love to spread around to all of your grandchildren.
Blessings to all,
Julie
