Hi everyone! I am still clean and still involved in my local area of Narcotics Anonymous. I will have 10 years clean October 14th! My daughter had a baby April 1, 2008. She is the best baby girl a grandma could want. I live alone now. My daughter needs to learn her own lessons. I now live in peace. How is everyone else? Alice

Hi Alice~ First, CONGRATS on 10 years clean and sober!!! That's just wonderful!!!! It sure proves that the 12 steps really work. I know for me that AA saved my life! On the 29th of this month, I'll have 16 years clean & sober, and without AA, I'd be dead ~ I know that for a fact. So a HUGE congrats to YOU!!!!
And another congrats on your baby granddaughter! Aren't they wonderful? I have one too, but she's 13 years old. She and her Mom (my daughter) have been living with me for 7 years. (Arrrrgggghhhh!!!!) My daughter hasn't been able to find employment that will pay her enough to get out on her own. We live in Michigan, and our unemployment rate is one of the worst in the country. So I know what you mean about "living alone in peace now." Good grief, I look forward to that day!!!
It's soo good to hear from you. This site has surely 'gone to pot' hasn't it? It's too bad, because I'm sure there are plenty of addicts and alcoholics out there who still need help.
Take care Alice and again, it's great to hear from you! God bless. Hugs, Lee

Happy birthday on the 29th, Lee! I hope this site wakes up. It is nice to have when I work 6 12 hour shifts in a row. This was a lifesaver a few years back. Everyone, come out, come out wherever you are! Hello??!!

HI Alice, congrats on 10! Coming up on my 10th too. It really is so sad that no one comes here. You know they are out there. Even some of the regulars only stop in maybe two to three times a year. I posted a check in on Addictions and Lee is the only one who stopped in.
Congrats on your grandbaby. I can sure wait on one, I have a 16 yr old, well almost 17yr old and I am in no way prepared to be a grandmama, course I guess most the time who really is.
Hey Lee you ain't kiddin' about the economy here. Both my son and his girlfriend are trying to find jobs and they are willing to do just about anything and they can't find one. Course neither one of them has a car so they have to walk or take the bus and when you don't have a job how do you pay for the bus.
Anyway I really wish more people would pop in.

That is too bad about the economy in Michigan. I hope it gets better soon. I am lucky to have a job at the VA Hospital. I've been here 22 years and my son works here now too. He is in his last year of nursing school and he works here part time as a Nurse Aide and at a grocery store as a checker/ night stocker. My daughter works at the front desk of a motel. We are blessed! My sister and I are going to have to go to Michigan again to study geneology, so our little bit of tourism will help somewhat. :)

How nice Alice, Congratulations on the 10 years and Grandaughter.
My son is 31 and there are no kids in the future. So for now I'm missing out.
Your gratitude comes through in your posts. Way to go.
Hi Lee, Christina and all the lurkers.
I see the surgeon tomorrow about a neck fusion.
Went to the pain doc yesterday. We keep the scripts pretty lean so I don't have major problems if I start messing up.
So far so good.
I have a problem though. My wife says she can not handle me going through surgery because of the pain meds afterwards.
We are just at our wits end money is tight and I only work here and there so it could really be tight.
Anyhow just going to see what is all involved.
One level fusion I think it is c4-c5. Anyone done this?
Anyway meetings are in order and I've been trying to hit every day.
Keeps my mind in the right place.
have a great day and congrats on all the clean time and birthdays.
Live to see another year.

Hey Pat might want to check on the Chronic Pain or Spinal forums.
Recovery has given me a nice healthy fear of my own pain meds. I suffer on a daily basis from chronic pain and suffer I do rather than take something most days. Sometimes though the pain has got to take a back seat for your own sanity but like you said keep those meetings to keep you in the right place you should be fine.
Good luck with your surgery if you have it and lots of prayers.

Hi everyone!
Congrats to Alice, Lee and Christine on your clean and sober anniversaries. I passed the 11 year mark in June. :D And less than six months until my 14 year stop smoking anniversary date! :D :D
Pat - sorry to hear you may be facing surgery. I'll say a prayer for you.
Have a peaceful day!!

Hi Pat! I had C4-5 fused 7-8 years ago. I had to take meds, but I called my sponsor alot and did what she said. I did not relapse from that and my neck is much better now. All I do is massage twice a month and an occasional alieve gel cap. You will be okay. Just work your program! :) Alice
