Do they figure it on the amount you would get each month. If your monthly payack pay would was $1000.00 and 6 months of back pay would equal $6000.00 is that how it is figured

It doesn't go by how much you earned a month while you were working...but how much you earned over a certain period of time(each person is different)and then they use their formula to determine your benefits.
I think I read somewhere, where Social Security throws out so-many of your lowest quarters...and throws out so-many of the higher quarters. Then they average all of the remaining quarters using their formula.
Maybe someone else will know more about how this works.
