this is what i did for my boys teachers for christmas gifts. i didn't really have any money or much. i barely have any money to get the boys gifts let alone 19 or 20 teachers [ i lost count].

there are 12 high school teachers for nathan and caleb. i really want to give them something as the elementary teachers always get loaded with gifts and stuff but high school teachers almost never get anything and i think they have the harder students.

i didnt have enough pumpkin bread mix... so

my younger boys teachers [elementary] got a mini loaf of pumpkin bread and the high school teachers got brownies, then each teacher got
a tea bag to make a cup of tea , a vanilla scented candle [.99 cent store],
and a homemade bookmark with a poem about god creating teachers to use when reading a good book over the holiday break.

i remember a teacher telling me about how they have so many coffee cups and i give nicer gifts at the end of the year.. so i figured i wanted to give them something to help them relax during the holiday break. i figured something to eat, drink, and a candle, and a bookmark to read would be a nice idea. i also wanted to make some homemade soap but with me having minor foot surgery today, noah's mouth surgery last week and then him getting sick today it kinda got hectic.. soooooo soap might be for the end of the year. lol

here is the poem i used for the bookmark...

[I]GOD MADE TEACHERS
God understood our thirst for
knowledge, and our need to be led
by someone wiser;
He / she needed a heart of compassion, of encouragement, and patience;
Someone who would accept the challenge regardless of the opposition;
Someone who could see potential and believe in the best in others...
So he made Teachers

just wanted to let you all know my idea for what i did for our teachers.. now i have to finish putting them all together. lol i just finished printing out the bookmarks... i have to put it all in the bags.. all 20 of them.. im glad i stopped at 4 kids. lol

In the UK, it would be seen as unethical (by some teachers) to accept gifts...which is probably why we don't do it.

swift and coffee...
here in the u.s. it shows the teachers how we appreciate what they do for our kids when we give them gifts. i feel they are a lot of times under paid and have large classes and nowdays the kids are very disrespectful. tho i'm the type of the person who likes giving gifts to people to make them happy and show how much i appreciate them.

how is it unethical in the uk? i would be interesting in learning more about that.

tho i should be finishing up these gifts.. its 2:30 am and my alarm clock will be going off in 2 hours :eek:. i only have 2 more to finish then i can hopefully go to bed... tho with my toe being operated on i hope i can sleep.. and noah keeps waking up crying out because his throat hurts and he is hot with fever.. i just gave him more motrin.

blessings,

I'm a teacher (part-time in a UK primary school) and we do get Christmas gifts but they tend not to be personalised, mainly boxes of chocolates, tea mugs, bath oils, and so forth. I love the gifts you have been discussing on this forum and the effort you have all put into getting very thoughtful gifts. I have had a few personalised gifts over the years and I always remember the child when I see the gift.

I always buy gifts for Laura's teachers too, as I know what a hard job they have with Laura, LOL!
