I am a mildly disabled teen who is entering high school. i am sort of excited about high school. On to bigger and better things :) ! But the thing is that I am afraid of being treated badly by teachers because Im disabled. i know that teachers are not supposed to do this but I have had this happen before!
one teacher had a conversation withe me that whent something like this
T=teacher
M=Me
T: can you walk all the way to the train station for the field trip tomorrow? Nikki cant (nikki has battled cancer) and we are allowing her parents to drop her off at the train station.
M: I will be okay
T: Are you sure?
M: Yes
T: If you cant dont be afraid to speak up we (the teachers) understand differences and can help you
I found the conversation very offensive and hurtful. Exspecially the part about being compared to the cancer surviivor
