View Full Version : I'm always toying with the idea of smoking pot

Many years ago I smoked recreationally, and gave it up after graduating college.
Lately I've been struggling with mild depression, which I believe to be caused by a combination of a stressful job and peri menopause.
Long story short: Depression is the aggitated type. I'm not sleeping well, so I'm a fog brain in the morning. I've doubled my normal caffeine take, to get my brain clear enough to function on too little sleep. Then when I'm at home, I jerk and twitch, and can't get to sleep. Vicious cycle.
It helps to unwind with a beer, but I'm limited that to just a few each week, because I had alcohol problems in the past. When I saw the link to this forum. I started going Hmmmm....I always used to sleep like a baby when coming down from a buzz.

now part of me is going WHAT THE **** ARE YOU THINKING and a smaller part is still going Hmmmmm...can't hurt, might help...
But yes it CAN hurt! I quit pot in the first place because i was no longer enjoying the sensation, and it make my anxious tendencies worse.

I'm not asking for advice, because I already know what I need to do: cut way back on the caffeine, and get more exercise. I'm just rambling to bore myself into a tired enough state of mind to get some sleep.

My thought on the matter is. You probuly stop cause of the stero type drug user. I kind of wish the great goverment of ours use that same noncence on Alcohol and tobbacco. Now that you have grown from thoses youthfull experiment days. You have a better idea of what your looking for in pain relife. The first thing to do is not look at it as you spoke early. Sleeping good comming off a buzz. Do you take asprin to get a uforic feeling or for pain releive.Reducate your mind away from the thought of street drug use.

In my opition, pot is more natural than alcohol, tobacco, cafeinne and many many over the counter products... it should be treated as a herb, not a drug, the thing is, as with ANY other herb/medication, put a warning on it! its not for everyone, just like most meds... case solved right?

It is a wondeful medicine for many people and is used to sucessfully treat a variety of medical problems. Many times it's way more effective and much safer than conventional medicines. Sometimes conventional medicines are necessary though. I use it to successfully control my epileptic seizures after going through a half a dozen or more prescription AEDs (anti-epileptic drugs) with no luck and terrible side effects. There is a such thing as abusing it just as there is with any medication. Thankfully canabis is usually a much safer alternative and not so physically addictive that it can't be brought under control with only little difficulty for most of those who have or do abuse it. I agree it should be legal *and* have a warning label. Too much of anything, even water, can be very bad for you.

Namaste,
