I just discovered this website. I have a 14 yr. old daughter. For 14 yrs. now she has been mentally delayed. She appeared to be a very normal baby, born on time, no problems, etc... We do not know why she is not up to par with her peers. So far no doctor has been able to determine why, either. Her MRI was normal-no reason has ever been discovered. She speaks with a slight speech irregularity, has many problems remembering things she learns, has a hard time understanding, doestn' pick up language well, doesnt' have a lot of intensity, etc.. I homeschool her and about go insane trying to get the info. in there and making it stay! For over a year now we have had her on a gluten free diet, becuase a neurologist said her antibodies reacted to gluten, but this diet is a living **** and I see no difference in her with it. To top it off she is aware that she is different and gets very frustrated that we cant' seem to fix it. Has anyone ever known someone like this that is smart enoght to be aware of their shortcomings, yet for no reason is just not as smart as most other people? Can anyone tell me what in the world could possibly be wrong?????
