I'm very open to suggestions and feedback here.

Dear JL,

Thank you so much for bringing the BrainTalk site back to life! I am under the impression that you will be attempting to restore the BT database (old posts). Would it be possible for you to provide periodic updates (weekly, for example) on the status of this restoration (and any other general site updates)? I’m sure this would be greatly appreciated by all. A suggestion might be to provide a separate thread for this that only you (and perhaps the mods also) control. If there are times when you are too busy to provide details or perhaps haven’t had time lately to work on it, just a one or two liner stating “status quo” I’m sure would be appreciated. This would be a big help for those who are currently wondering if the users should begin attempting to restore/replace the medical and other information which previously existed.

Thank you very much for your consideration and thanks again for your help! :)

P.S.
I looked around to see if this request had been made elsewhere. I apologize for any redundancy.

Dear Administrators/Moderators (or anyone who might be able to answer these questions),

Thanks again for bringing back the BT site. I have read information posted thus far (in other threads) regarding possible database (old post) restoration and this information is greatly appreciated, however much of this information seems (at present) somewhat open ended. I would like to ask the rather specific questions below regarding database restoration. For those who mainly use BT for social/support reasons, this is probably not very important, but for those who access BT for medical/evidence based information, this continues to be very important. These latter users continue to be in a “holding pattern” awaiting further details:

Expected Database Restoration Commencement:
----------------------------------------------
When is it planned (or expected) that database restoration might begin (e.g. 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, ever)? It has been stated (speculated) that the previous (prior to March, 2004) database archival “still waits on a shelf” awaiting a way to be imported.

Periodic Status Updates:
------------------------
Can periodic status updates be provided (e.g. weekly, biweekly, etc.)? These would not have to be long and detailed, just one or two-liners letting people know how it’s going would be great. This would allow users to “check in” periodically to see if/when any “old” forum information might be available.

Potential Interaction Problems:
-----------------------------
Do you expect any “interaction” problems upon database restoration (i.e. if users go ahead and try to reproduce any previous information from scratch, or add new information, is it possible that the new information might be “lost” or “overwritten” in the restoration process)? How would possible information redundancy be handled? Also, would old and new forum information be merged or kept separate? What would be your overall recommendation regarding users spending a lot of time attempting to reproduce old information or adding new information to the site as it currently exists?

Notification of Non-Restoration of Database:
------------------------------------------
If it is decided that restoration of the database is not possible, could this be confirmed and notified to the user community in a timely manner? Interested users could then “move on” and not be concerned about it any more.

Again, thank you for all you have done to bring this site back up. I realize this is a volunteer effort and I am not asking for a “commitment date” for complete database restoration, just continued updates and exchange of information. If all of the above questions cannot be answered at this time, appropriate answers as soon as it is feasible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :)

Dear Administrators/Moderators,

Is it possible that any of the above questions regarding database restoration can be answered at this time? If it is determined that the database cannot be restored, please provide notification and no further questions will be planned to be asked. Thank you very much for your consideration.
