SCI forum name change request

Can we consider changing the name of the Spinal Cord Injury forum to Spinal Cord Injury & Diseases? This would make it more clear and also more inclusive of those without traumatic damage to their spinal cord.

Just curious, doesn't spinal cord diseases fall under the Spinal Disorders board? If not, I know that the spiney's on that board would welcome any spiney regardless of the reason for being there. Liz

No, spinal disorders refer to orthopedic (spinal, vertebrae, bone) problems. Many people have these problems who have no neurologic impairment (paralysis, etc.).

Spinal cord diseases include non-traumatic damage to the spinal cord from disease processes (polio, MS, spinal cord abscesses, infarcts or tumors, etc.) as well as spinal cord injury from trauma. One is orthopedic, the other neurologic.
