I had my first postop appointment today. It went well and doc is pleased with my progress. I can now walk (up to 1 mile a day--not too cool for a marathoner, but as good a place to start as any). He wants me reading and writing more--I love that kind of homework! All my staples are gone and you can't even see the scar! The only point on which to be whiney is my car keys. I can't drive for another month because my balance is still a little questionable. Fooey. I guess it's a REALLY good thing my darling 16 year old just got his own keys. Now it's turn around time. It's a new view of Mommy Taxi--he get's to drive mom where she needs to go! Could provide a lot of quality time! Thanks again for your happy thoughts and prayers.

All those same great wishes to those of you with your surgeries getting closer! I'll be sending tons of happy vibes to you on the 28th and the 15th especially.

Fantastic news Jacoco! Its truly amazing how quickly we can heal from this surgery... i'm back to 6 mile walks and much longer bike rides and loving it! Hopefully you'll be able to drive at your next review.... Best wishes to you. Julie X

Jacoco-

Glad to hear you are doing so well!:D Good thing you have a driver, although from what I remember about driving with MY newly licensed 16 year old:eek:, that may just turn out to be scarier than brain surgery!;) Rest and heal (((hugs)))

Hi Jacoco,
I am so glad to hear that all is well with your recovery!! I know not being able to drive has to suck. But maybe your son will learn a little more about asking for rides when he understands the time and effort that has to be put in.

I am worried about my driving abilities because I have a stick shift and I swear to g-d not one darn person knows how to drive one! I can't believe it, I have tried to teach 2 people so far and if I kept on trying to teach them I would have had to pay for a new clutch that they burnt up!!

So I am stuck with the busses I guess when it's my time but that is scary too, what if my memory forgets where I am to get off and I end up in skid row with no memorie but lots of great drugs in my purse....I can see it now...LOL I have to laugh because we know what happens if we don't laugh.

Hang tough I know you can and wow you can walk a mile that is wonderful. Even in my healthy day's I don't think I can walk a mile..I get about 2 blocks down and speed dial my taxi company to come pick me up :)

I am truly glad to hear you are almost back to normal and that is just a wonderful miracle just think for all of us if we lived back in the 1800's. I think we would of been just a bunch of morphine addicts running around all the time as that was the drug of choice you could buy over the counter and if you drank soda it had real cocaine in it!!

Wow life it's amazing isn't it...Ok when you can drive I should be ready for a ride so maybe you can come out my way and drive me to a great night club with really good food. I am saying prayers for you everynight and morning, your doing wonderful.

Love and Prayers,
LaDawn

Thanks for your cheery replies! Yep, 16 year old + pick-up=hang on tighly! He's been really good about taking care of mom though, so I'm grateful.

LaDawn, you are still in my prayers. I know losing my memory was my biggest fear and I recognized everybody and don't have any time lapses at all. I'm hoping it'll all work out the same for you! And, I CAN drive a stick shift! Might take a bit longer than the taxi however :).

Wow, shygirl, 6 miles!! How long has it been since your surgery? Did you lose any balance on your bike? I was given the OK for a stationary bike so I'll start safe--my cycling skills were alway a bit weak anyway.

Hugs,
