I Have Been Approved!

I just received a call today from Disability to say I was approved...It was my first time without an appeal..I applied in September and was approved according to my case worker around Thanksgiving. I should be getting a check according to them sometime within the next week or so...I hope anyway...She set up an appt to talk to me about my kids and getting them set up as well...Regular checks will start in January...I think...

Congratulations!!

I was given a fully favorable decision in October, after three and a half years and four appeals. I haven't gotten any money yet as they said it takes up to 90 days, but they did just tell me that my first monthly check will be here in January. So I know how you feel, how good it is to know that you won't be struggling financially.

Way to go GJZH. I see you have spinal problems. May I ask what state you are from? I applied in September because of Chronic Pain from Spinal problems. I had to put down everything that was wrong with me and last week I got a call to go have a breathing test. I have major breathing problems when I get in cold weather but that wasnt the main reason I applied. The gentleman asked if I was still using my inhaler without saying anything about my spine problems. I was also asked if I still use Lexapro for depression. I imagine they will be sending me to a psychiatrist next. I am hoping they have enough information about my spine problems to not bother me with anymore papers to fill out. I would love to go to their doctors so I can prove everything I put down on paper. Did you have to go to any doctors before getting an approval? Thanks, Brian

Yes, I did have to validate other problems....like depression with a psychologist...not a psychiatrist....and I see a counselor now...I am from the state of PA...I see other doctors on a regular basis..I was able to validate every problem I listed with doctors...I see a gastro, ENT, Allergist, RA doc, two spinal surgeons, PC, IM, Gyn, Psychologist, and Pain Management doc regularly since I have so many health problems. I was requested by SS to see the pyschologist...so I did as they asked and gave them the name of the doctor I chose...
