I’d like to get some opinions here on how to release anger the right away without hurting other people. Is there really a right way to do that? Hope to hear from you guys.

I am a TBI survivor, car accident 1986.
I went through various stages of rages, from throwing things and breaking things to slamming my fist on the table to screaming every swear word I could think of.
I talked to my psychologist about this because someone brought it to my attention that I was not acting like a normal person, when I had a rage. My Psych told me that I needed to have rages but that I need to find my own personal outlet.
One good technique, but I had to have the ability to hold my anger, was to go and take a shower. When the shower was running I would swear and scream into the water. That way no one saw or heard me. Later I was able to control my anger enough that I kept a journal. I always liked to write in a diary (I know its girly, but if you call it a journal you are just literary.)
23 years after my head injury I take prozac, I tell myself that I used prozac more for perimenopause than anything else, but it works. I just don't get angry. I continue to appreciate writing in a journal because it's my private time to get thoughts-good or bad- out of my mind and it continues to help.
Hope you find what works for you.

Hi,
To release anger without hurting anyone, first you must learn how to control it.Once you expertise it,you never hurt anyone. If you got angry too early, you should start doing meditation exercise such as "PRANAYAM" to control your nerve system. It will help u tremendeously. If still you can't control it go to Physcologist for further reference.

I seeem to hold things in, I hate confrontation due to living in a house with physical abuse for years unable to express myself. When I was a teen-ager I would hurt myself. Now I do journeling, I try to nip problems in bud right away before I get too upset, mad! I like to listen to music it seems to help me.
I must admit at times I get the urge to hurt myself, never wanting to hurt another. I went to a counseler for aa while that also helped. Their are also anger management classes, my son and brother have taken them and that has really helped them. Sorry I can't help more!
