is this the same woman in a documentary? with so many adopted children....
at all events, the agencies that allowed the adoption of each child should have done a follow up to see if their special needs were met...presenting herself with different names is a problem....for that reason agencies should check on the child every week, then every two... if the adoptive mother wanted money for their care she suppose to tell the name of the school, the teacher's name, etc....what a unnecessary trauma...if those agencies did their job.....

Good grief! Did she just have her own little version of the Spanish Inquisition or what?

Disgusting! That woman will fry in he!!
And when I see things like this I can't help but get even madder about the fiasco after Audrey's fall...give me a friggen break!
The whole system has their collective head up their ar$e! And the saddest part is that their mistakes lead to broken children. Maybe this makes too much logical sense or something...but if a parent seeks care (medical or otherwise) it's a good indication that they are being cared for...on the flip side when there is no record of a child getting routine check-ups or enrolled in school...THAT might warrant an investigation...don't ya think?
If they are so limited in resouces that they can't CHECK every kid every month...maybe they should start with just verifying that recommended and required care & education is being done...and if they can't get that documentation....GO TO THE HOUSE!
Idiots!

I don’t know if it was ever in a documentary or not. If it was I had not seen it. When doing a search on this women get a ton of hits.
She was caught in the summer of 2007 after she left one of the kids on the side of the road threatening her if she told anyone. The police picked this girl up and she related what had happened to her. The police checked this women out by going to her door. Nothing seemed to be amiss. The small hallway the girl described got the officers curiosity. So because they could not enter and check out the premises legally they obtained a warrant and found all of them living in such squalor conditions abused beaten. One of the severe autistics was said to have been blinded by this women having him hold a magnifying glass and looking at the sun through it. She was then arrested and incarcerated. In the fall of 2008 she was sentenced. Now these victims are suing the state of New York .
From some of the articles I have looked at. There is still one that has been unaccounted for . So very troubling is that back in 1988 she had one die of SIDS that was in her care. We’ve seen and heard of abuse cases before but not one on such a great magnitude
The irony here is that all of this foster care and welfare is paid for by the taxpayers and now it will be the taxpayers that ultimately pay for the damages done by this women.
This women got away with this for 19 years. She definitely was good at deceiving enough people. The welfare and foster care systems seem to have become so negligent in performing their duties. There are just so many kids now with special needs the social agencies are incapable of policing. Being desperate to put these kids somewhere and without enough and also over worked staff this is a crisis. Duping all these agencies through all those years though is still hard to imagine

will in jail I hope the other inmates torture this women on a daily basis. I wish what she did to those children could be done to her, so she can feel what it is like. I would start with the burning out of the eyes with the magnifying glass, that it the sickest damn thing I have ever heard of someone doing. I hope they have a special place in hel! for people like this. I also really hope that the people who didnt do there jobs and just let this happen, I hope they feel bad for the rest of there life for what they let happen.

Just having a similar thing done (looking at bright light through magnifying glass) for a retina scan is bad enough. I shudder to think of having to look at the sun through a magnifying glass to the point of blindness.
(Note: I'm not trying to imply malice on the part of the ophthalmologist, who was doing it to assess me for a potential problem, but just saying that with as unpleasant as that was, it would be infinitely worse to have the same thing done, on a larger scale, for more sinister reasons.)
