I was talking to a friend about ringing in your ears, etc and we found this site (http://www.sonarx.com) which looks very promising!!!!!
Why? Because, just like you, I was plagued with tinnitus. But, I’m here to tell you there is a way to put an end to your frustration that I can’t wait to share…
Although this site (http://www.ata.org/about_tinnitus/consumer/faq2.html) says there isnt a cure.
If this was a sure fire way to end this,it would be VERY BENEFICAL trying this....
But ya gotta ask yourself a question or 2: Once the meds made the ringing stop,is it cured for good or do you have to keep taking the meds???
Are there any SIDE EFFECTS with taking this??? (As its UN-NATURAL compared to taking herbal stuff)
Very interesting to say the least!!!!

There are lots of meds and foods that cause ringing in the ears . Read the side effects from your meds . and then ask the dr. if you could switch to another one. Got all my meds figured out and have no more ringing . It is wonderful. Coffe , chocolate are causes too.

To all who suffer this problem and I do as well due to warfarin a good natural remedy is Gingko Biloba as it increases blood supply . However one must check that this natural remedy is ok to take with other meds. It has the ability to prevent blood platelets sticking together and is not ok to take with Warfarin.:)

How long does this take to work?? (And if it is able to correct it,do you have to keep taking it??)

I have only just come back to this site so sorry it is a very late reply about the gingko.....only about 7 months..lol. I have never taken gingko for tinnitus but learnt about it when I worked in natural health. The length of time it takes is different for everybody and I guess in some people it may not work. I should imagine you should notice a difference in a couple of weeks and yes you probably need to keep taking it.

Well if it gets the ringing to stop maybe you dont need to keep taking it....
I think the ring is caused by pressure in your ear and if you can release it somehow, you might lose the ring!
The ring started in my ear after an ear infection (Every time i get an ear ache a ring comes with it and then goes away when my ear gets better, except that one time :( -- That was 15 years ago or so))

I have tinnitus that seems to have no cause.....At least one no one can find......It stays with me 24/7 just in varying degree's....I have no hearing loss, in fact I am 34 and can hear the cell phone rings only kids can supposidly hear.......I have had this tinnitus since I was a child and cannot remember a time without it except one time when having chiro treatments, one day I realized I had no ringing in my ears that one day....However the next day I lost the entire middle part of my vision for about 30 minutes....2 days later my vertigo returned for an entire week......
The tinnitus came back but at least the other things were gone hehe......This is my normal :D so when the tinnitus is gone at all it is like normal people having it start up.....Go figure.....
I would like to know why I have it but so far no one can give me any information on it, nor understands why its there.....

I hate to tell you guys this, but tinnitus is a symptom for a brain tumor on the vestibular nerve. If you research it, you will find info for Acoustic Neuroma, or Vestibular Schwannoma. Both are names for basically the same tumor. I might add that this type of brain tumor is usually benign.

What does that mean??
Can it be fixed??

Im just wondering......
The ring in my ear stayed after an earache i had.... (I always got this same ring during an earache (Same pitch, etc) but after this one earache it stayed and has been there ever since :()
What if another earache happend in that ear?? Could it "reset" what was done?? (Since after every other earache it went away (Ya know how sometimes computers need "rebooting"))
Just wondering......
I also was thinking if the doctor could XRAY both my ear canels and see whats different in the canal thats ringing.....

Don't let this
"I hate to tell you guys this, but tinnitus
is a symptom for a brain tumor on the vestibular
nerve."
frighten anyone one. Tinnitus can be cause by many things. Mine, for example, is caused a narrow spectrum of deafness. The ringing I hear is the freqency as the deafness -- what those nerves would hear if they were healthy.
Ear doctor's are better equipped to diagnose the why, than we are.

All i know is during every earache i have had this same pitched ring (same freq) and after every earache IT WENT AWAY! (Except after the one where it stayed and has been there ever since :()

hey - long time braintalker here, new to this forum.
i thought this might help anyone here. i found it this a.m. he seems like a good doctor - head of otolaryngology (sp?) at a good hospital, who also believes in alternative treatments.
my son seems to have tinnitis since he got a pump put in his body last year that delivers meds to his spinal column. i am going to try and get him some help for it.

My sensoral neuro Hearing loss first began 38 years ago and along with it came tinnitus.
Sorry, no tumors here.
5 members of my family have this inherited hearing loss but only 4 of them have the tinittus.
We all agree it is worse when we are tired or didn't get enough sleep.
BTW I HAVE had a brain CT scan with contrast for an unrelated reason and believe me no tumors are there.

Hi to the room,
believe me, tinnitus is not a good thing to have (to bring with you) when you move in the neighbourhood of Blues Fest site... you just hear a bunch of weird wired junk noise... a real daymare and nightmare... for 10 consecutive days...
1999
I have managed the night time problem after all these years, I just leave the tv on and hit the sleep button. This is something that I would never have been able to do before meniere's and constant noise in my ears. But it is times like today, when I am on the computer and the sounds are here that are troublesome as well. I do get tired of constant noise. Even the noise I have on to dround out the inside noise.
Ah, it always something, isn't it? A lot of good information here. Thanks

Another alternative due out this year ( Supposedly ) is handheld portabled tms device ( transcranial magnetic stimulation ) which supposedly has good results ( looks like large hair dryer )

Not to sure I really buy that but I haven't looked it up yet! I'm gonna do a little research because that's the first I've ever heard of it.
There is another fellow who posted on a different forum about some natural remedies that have found are helping. I'm giving them a try myself. I've started with acupuncture and sound therapy. I'm using a marpac sleepmate 980A (http://www.soundmachinesdirect.com) for the sound therapy part and have been going to a acupuncture therapist once every 2 weeks (I would love to go more but it's bloody expensive) Here is the link (http://forum.mytinnitus.de/en/viewtopic.php?id=43&p=1) to his post. He seems to have had good success but I'm not expecting much. At this point I'll try anything.
Cheers
