what is protected memory and why does the very idea of it scare me?

Protected memory is the space used by certain programs to store your passwords to sites that require a username and password.

You might be more familiar with the "auto complete" terminology.

If you use the program to delete the passwords, you will have to re-enter it when you visit sites that you've used the "auto complete" for.

Nothing to worry bout really. You're puter is set up so the chances of anyone getting in isn't very high ;)
