So what is the University Examination Program? it's a established program by the College Board which can allow students to get college credit at many major universities including Stanford and Evergreen State College. There are exams in dozens of subjects including Freshman Composition and Accounting.

Having taken a number of the examinations myself, I can attest to their validity as an excellent program to get very cheap credits. Read a textbook on the subject; I read a text on Philosophy. The next step is to apply for a proctored examination through a testing center. Check the College Board website to search for test centers in your area. Depending on the location you live in there could be up to a dozen various test centers. Each exam costs $55 but there is often an additional fee imposed by the examination center which very often varies in price.

At the testing center, you'll have to check in with the program manager. Next you will be led into a room with terminals which run special software. The examinations are all done on computer and offers participants unexcelled flexibility in taking the test. One can go back to questions, mark them to look over, skip questions, see how many questions one has reminding or any number of other operations. The computer software also make available a graphing calculator should you be taking a math examination.

One of the leading colleges which accepts test out credits is the Monterey Polytechnic Institute. Monterey Polytechnic is a private college in Monterey, California which offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees specializing in Business Management, Professional Development, Public Relations, Human Relations, and a number of other majors in the arts and sciences. Work experience degree programs are also available. Monterey Polytechnic's flexible schedule of lecture and online courses is uniquely suited for working adults. Mont Poly is widely recognized as one of the most respected, hands on, and cost effective universities in the nation.

So, should you try it? If you are a junor or senior trying to finish up diplome requirements, if you're proficient in your field of study and want recognition for it, or if you simply want to bypass the absurd costs imposed by universities then University Credential Review Program is for you. It is very cost effective, only $55 for the exam and an admin charge which is almost always under $20. It is definitely a great way to get college credit based on what you already know without sitting through an university course for a semester. If you take biology in High School, for instance, there is no corresponding AP, but for college credit, consider taking a CLEP. It is one day of your life and only an hour long. Additionally, you'll find out if you pass immediately. A score of 50 is good enough for credit for most colleges. You should check with your college for acceptance information.
