I have had 7 spinal surgrey's and 2 pain pump. Thought i was doing better with the new drug. Venom from a sea snail, ANyone heard of it? Well for the past 3 weeks I am going backwards. The pain gets worse everyday, I can't sleep and the doctor keeps going up on my pump it does not help. This pump and medication was the only thing keeping me from using the use of my legs. I can't go through anymore. Is there someone that can relate. I have trouble logging on to Brain support sometimes. So you can email me wavedreamer1@aol.com Thank everyone for your kindness. Sandra,
I am so sorry to hear of what you are dealing with. I can't imagine. I have Fibro, or something, and pretty much hurt all the time. My pain and limitations do allow me to exercise so I am now going to the gym several times a week. It doesnt help my pain AT ALL but does give me more energy.
I wonder if you have access to any kind of pool therapy..? The low impact exercise in a pool seems to help a lot of folks who are in pain and suffering from low energy.
I hope you get everything worked out soon!

Sandra,
I wonder if there's a crimp in the plumbing of the pump. It doesn't make sense that the doctor increases the amount of drug and there's no change.
I heard of the snail venom years ago when it was first being introduced. I haven't heard any positives or negatives either way.
I hope that they can find something to help you. I have neuropathy in my arms/legs, hands/feet from a blood condition. I have some 'small' idea of the torture that you're going through. NO ONE should have to suffer so.
Stay on top of the doctors. Don't let them blow you off because they're not helping. Some doctors give up when they don't see any improvement. That's just not acceptable.
There *IS* hope, Sandra. Because of all the young men and women that are being severely injured in the wars and because of all the boomer babies that will be [quote]aging[unquote] shortly -- there's gonna be a VERITABLE TON of people with intractable pain out there. They ARE working on it.
Soft, gentle hugs.
Barb
PS: Oh, you might want to look into Effexor XR or Cymbalta if your pain is considered to be coming from the nerves. A lot of people are seeing good results from either one of those drugs. I use the Effexor XR.

If you have your MRI, I would reccommend you to have Dr. Hrayr Shahinian see it. He performed my surgery, you can check out his web site for more details www.skullbaseinstitute.com or call there office 310-691-8888, hope this information helps.

Hi Sandra,
You might want to try taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. a day this will help calm the nerves down so there's less pain. I use it for back pain and epilepsy. Also you might want to look into getting a Deep Brain Stimulator that has really helped my cousin who had back surgery done the stimulator kills all the pain. Here's wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
