Okay...so I wrote some time ago about my nearly 18 yo daughter's recurrent UTIs (five in about 2 1/2 years) and got some great responses. :) Thank you all! :) Now she has an appt with a uro on Tuesday afternoon, and I'm at a loss over what she or I should ask. I'm going with her (she actually asked me to!), but this is SO out of my league. :o I'm all about brains! :D  HELP....!!!!!!
Thanks so much for any input!

I wonder if he would do an ultrasound to check for kidney size and for any evidence of scarring from the infections? Would he want to test for urinary reflux? Would he be interested in putting her on a prophylactic antibiotic to prevent infections?
I guess these are some things I would hope HE would mention as I would hope he would be somewhat aggressive in trying to get to the bottom of the cause of all this and to be sure her kidneys were both working well.
Keep us posted!

Thanks, Lesley. :)
I'm hoping, too! I just feel so brain-locked. :( I have been researching, but not enough, I guess. Back to the drawing board...

I used to suffer from recurrent UTI. I went to a nephrologist as opposed to a urologist. He ordered a 24 hr urine collection because I had proteins in the urine. I also had an intravenous pyelogram which is an injection of contrast dye followed by xrays. I ended up taking prophylactic antibiotics, but ended up with a resistant bacteria. This was over 20 years ago. Once i had children the UTIs never recurred. Now I have other problems. Oh well.

Hey, Samantha had problems in this area too. Her's turned out not to be UTI, but a pelvic bacterial infection.
