VHS &/or 8mm to DVD

I asked this before & got a wonderful answer. Unfortunately that was lost int the "Big Crash" (of BTalk).

So
what do I need to buy to convert my VHS tapes to DVD. Perhaps also 8 mm tapes but I can always copy them to VHS first if I have to. Or vive versa.

Wow! I haven't used Google for quite awhile. It was so easy to find what I wanted!
So, unless you have some hints/preferences I'm OK (haven't read what I found yet)
