HI, I just received a fully favorable decision in October, and was told that my file went to the payment center on November 20th. SSA said that the payment center has a time limit of 45 days to release my money to me...does that sound right? I've read a ton of posts from people waiting to get their money and it taking months and months.
I don't have anybody to pay except my lawyer, so my case is fairly simple. I'm just wondering if they are telling me the truth, or just yanking my chain.
Thanks to anybody who can help.

It just depends, all I had to pay was my attorney also and I just started to get my payments..My 1st installment of 4..and that was last week..It took them 6 months ( long months )..It was 1 excuse after another for them to not give me my back pay...I finnally had to get my congress involved and it took them less then 3 weeks to straighten it out...Congress lady stated to me..It probably would have been in there for over a year if I didn't get them involved..I'd wait the normal time,,Which they tell me is 6 weeks after the first check you recieve,,Then call your nearest Congress person..Hugs, Cindy

There is no specific time frame or time limits by which SSA is required to make payment. It could take days, weeks, even months. It is simply dependent on how large a backlog there is at any given time.

I also got approved and heard about it when the judge called my attorney back in October 10th but it took until November 15th for the approval letter to get typed and sent out.
According to my attorney I should see a payment in 90 days but today I called the local office and was told that my case is in Baltimore, where they're figuring out the "numbers".
Cindy, thanks for the advise. I'll keep my eyes open and if nothing happens soon enough, somebody's going to get a phone call.

I was sitting in the same place as you...waiting. I finally sent a very detailed letter to my congressman and also told him we were in dire straights...which is true in all our cases and things moved really fast after that. I received a call from the congressman telling me how much and when it would be deposited. If you haven't already got in touch with your congressperson do it right away...good luck...
