I must tell you how pleased I am with my new Caddy fold and go scooterhttp://www.evrider.com/caddy.htm
It's amazing folds up like a baby stroller, very easy to assemble, and lightweight. It even comes apart for easy transport in a car trunk.
I looked at a lot of other scooters, I wanted the pride go go, however it just didn't offer enough leg room for me. The Caddy is a full size scooter with plenty of leg room.
I took a chance and bought this one off the Internet. Super pleased with all aspects of the scooter so far. I'm sure it will offer me a lot more freedom, since I can almost manage getting in and out of my station wagon by myself. It's lightweight enough, that I don't have any problem with asking a stranger to help me get it in or out of the car.
If you decide you want one of these check the prices on many web sites. There was a really big price difference between sites.
The customer service person at Wheelcare told me the airlines love this scooter as it's so easy to fold and store. Betty

Hi,
WOW...that's cool! I WANT ONE! What color did you get?
We are going to be down sizing and buying a manufactured home in a 55+ community. One level . ( Hubby is 55 not me yet..LOL).
That would be great to go to the community center on, they have paved roads, plus I could probably get it in and out of our windstar van pretty easily
at 79 lbs.
Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to be nosey, but when we sell our house I could probably swing it, was it very expensive?
I could park it on the front porch there, or leave it in the spare bedroom when not using it...it looks so reasonable size wise.
Good Luck,
MUPPY ( Cheryl )

Hi,
That is awesome!! I have been shopping around for one. I am sick and tired of not going places because I can't walk far!! It seems as though I miss a lot of things I used to love to do, so it is time!! Enjoy.....Barb

The total cost of my scooter was $1075 with free shipping. I had it in about a week. I don't think I can share the site with you but will send you the link if you PM me. (As I said, there were many prices out there for this same scooter )
I've had an old Pride for about 9 yrs. It served me well. But this is so much more convenient. It was also more affordable. My insurance will not pay for scooters.
I feel like I have a new lease on life. I don't have to be totally dependent on my husband to take me places and put the old very heavy Pride together. Betty

Betty,
What a cool scooter! I find myself doing less and less these days (even washing my hair takes a huge effort) that I've thought about something like this. I'm using a cane at the moment.
Thanks for sharing your experience,

I've received several pm for info on where I bought my scooter. I'll be out of town till Monday. If anyone else pm's me I'll respond when we get back.
We're off to Pittsburgh to visit with the grandkids and use that scooter at the Science Center.
Have a great weekend. Betty

How is the stability? I tried the No Boundaries foldable scooter at 65 pounds. Looks quite similar but folds much smaller. Kept tipping over.
Have you looked at the online owner's manual? Page 15 states it is absolutely illegal for a person to operate the scooter under the influence of alcohol or drugs and that one should get a Dr's permission to operate it if on medication! Is this going a bit far?

Cherie, I used the scooter for shopping and at the Children's Museum in Pgh. Lot's of steep ramps etc. I found it to be really stable and was able to handle the ramps without problems. I also transported our 2 yr old granddaughter on my lap without problems. My husband loved the ease of transporting and assembly. I'm not sure I'd use this scooter on gravel and real uneven surfaces.
Last week I needed to visit my mother in law at the hospital. Husband wasn't available to go then. I had no problems calling the hospital front desk and asking security to help me remove the scooter from the car. It's light enough that most normal people could easily lift it out of my station wagon. I plan to get the phone number of security at my favorite mall and start going shopping by myself there too.
I guess I'm just pleased with the additional independence this scooter is giving me. Betty

Congratulations - I'm glad it is working so well for you.
For anyone considering buying a scooter, if you have insurance, go through the insurance company.
The big problem with buying a scooter over the internet is getting it serviced. A lot of repair places won't service a scooter they didn't sell. Especially if you don't live in a metropolitan area, check into service before you buy a scooter. Don't take the seller's word for getting it fixed either - call the repair place they tell you will service it and ask if they will service your particular scooter even though you didn't buy it from them.
I bought my first scooter this way - got a great deal - but had major problems getting it repaired.
One other tip - buy it with a credit card only. Mine arrived with bent wheel. When the seller was dragging out dealing with the problem, I called the credit card company and they held his payment - and THAT got results.

MMC, I totally agree with your suggestions for purchasing a scooter. Our insurance will not cover scooters this year. I also paid with a credit card.
I went to many local Scooter stores to look at my options. I wanted a travel scooter, not a scooter for house and long term use. The Caddy scooter is made in Israel. The Pride Go Go looked great, however even the salesman thought I was too tall for the scooter and it wasn't the scooter for me.
I was really nervous about buying a scooter that I hadn't touched or seen. However I did see this scooter on QVC several months ago. That's what got me started on wanting a collapsible scooter. Once I found this scooter for $1,000, I felt like I could gamble. If I don't get 9 yrs out of it like my old Pride, I'll just buy another or better yet maybe my insurance will cover scooters again soon.
QVC still has this scooter on there web site, I think their price is about $1600.
MMC is right, buyer beware. Investigate your options carefully. Betty

I have been imagining the scooter that would fit the need when you want quick independence.
Just this past weekend I was out and my husband and I cut a fun afternoon short because my legs got tired (before the rest of me got tired!)
I have a big scooter but had not taken it. A travel scooter has been on my mind. Thanks for the info.
