Teddiebears -- last week I received a terrible news ..... my dearest friend had TWO major heart attacks last Friday while he was home alone. He managed to call 911 and the paramedics arrived in time to use those defribulating (sp?) shock things and get him into the ambulance. They had to shock him 3 more times and transfer him into a helicopter to get him to a hospital fast enough.
There they discovered his lungs - he's a heavy smoker - are in such bad shape that they could not immediately do the surgery he needs and the artery is 100% clogged. They tried angioplasty for 4 hours with no success. Lots more complicated and disappointing things happened. But he is OK - not well, but OK - and was sent home yesterday. He's on all sorts of medication and, most important, no cigarettes.

jingle - I'm so sorry to hear this about your friend. Sadly, it's circumstances such as you described that are very good examples of why everyone should quit smoking - or NEVER start to begin with!
I'll say a prayer for your friend. ;)

Jingle & Teddiebears...
I received news that my cousin just passed away.
Roy was a musician. Owned a music store for 28 years
and was a real riot to be around. 65 years old.
Lung cancer.
All I can say is: "Smokers be aware." "Smokers beware."
Take care,
Christine :(

Oh, Christine -- I'm sorry :( How awful for you entire family.
How awful for every smoker -- current or ex.
Because I was a heavy smoker for 42 years ~shudder~ I know I'll always be in danger of lung cancer. Oh, how I wish I had quit sooner.
Sure, I'm a whole lot safer NOW - it's never too late -- but I sure would be a LOT safer if I had quit earlier.
