Hey guys.

I noticed that no one has posted a new thread in a few days so I decided I'd start up a new thread just to check-in with everyone and see what was up and how everyone was doing!

I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving Day. I'm up for the 3rd time to use the bathroom tonight but I always enjoy my nightly awakenings because I usually log on here for a few minutes each time before going back to bed.

Tomorrow we're going to my grandma's house for dinner. We'll probably not have a big dinner this year since g-ma isn't feeling very well at all but it will just be family time (mom's side). I always enjoy going there because it's so cozy and home-y. Lol.

Sunday we're going to have our Turkey Day here at the house. It'll be me, my parents, my sister, my B-i-L, and my darling little niece. My sister is pregnant again; the doctor said he thinks it will be a boy! It'll be a perfect pair of kids. My niece is as cute as a button and I love her to death, although she is quite rotten.

Well, I do believe I'm going to head back to bed but I wanted to send a shout-out to all the GLBT people floating around in BT-Land. Be sure to stop by and at least say hey and let everyone know how you're doing!!

Y'all take care! -RH

I have a lot to be thankful for and Braintalk is near the top of the list. You all are wonderful. My roommate and I will be joining his family this evening at a local nice restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. I hope everyone who celebrates it has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Namaste,

Daniel

Well, I survived another Thanksgiving. :p

I'm just glad life has returned to what passes for normal, although I have to admit that Tofurkey leftovers aren't nearly as appetizing as the real thing.

Glad to hear that everyone seems to be doing well.

We just had "Thanksgiving" dinner here at our house today. Me, my parents, my sister, bro-in-law, and niece. It was a nice day although my niece did keep things a bit hectic. She's a VERY picky eater and nothing seemed to please her today more than Pistachio Pudding.

I was able to get a nap in today so I wasn't as tired as I imagined I'd be. My stomach did get a little unhappy with me but luckily the feeling didn't last long! Gray, tofurkey does NOT sound at all appealing to me. Lol. What's the reason for having it?

We had a pre-baked smoked turkey; it took 2 hours to heat up (thawed) and it was one of the better turkeys would have ever purchased. It is made by Pilgrim's Pride (in case anyone is wondering). It's pre-baked, pre-BASTED, and all you have to do is just pop it in for 2 hours and it comes out golden brown. I did think the smoke flavoring was a tad on the "much" side but it was still very delicious.

Hope everyone is doing well! I guess some will peep out later and let us know how they're doing. Happy Holidays!

Tofurkey is actually pretty good, although not as tasty as the real thing. :p

The reason for having it--I'm a vegan. No meat, fish, dairy, eggs etc.

Oh, a Vegan!

I've never even tried being a vegetarian let alone a vegan. You eat nothing that comes from an animal, right? What about milk?

I do think that I may be able to pull of being a vegetarian, but I like eggs way too much to be a vegan!

I'm sure it's a very healthy lifestyle though. Especially with being on narcotics...red meat can take up to a week to digest in the stomach, so I'm sure vegetables and non-animal products would be a lot easier on my tummy!

Hope to hear from a few more soon to see how the holiday was!!! -RH

I heard that stuff about red meat taking a week to digest is just false, but either way I like meat and don't like very many veggies (am allergic to a lot of them) so I could never go vegetarian or vegan, but to each their own.

Namaste,

Daniel

Nope, no milk or milk products. No honey, either.

I'm a vegetarian too, but I haven't successfully gone vegan yet. I've never tried Tofurkey (though I have tried many of the other meat analogs). It's mostly due to price. It's quite expensive. Is it really worth the price they ask for it?

Not really. I mean, it's pretty good, but not stellar. We do it once a year just to scratch the traditional Thanksgiving dinner itch. ;)

Boy, that cuts out half of my diet. LOL I adore honey. As I said, to each their own. :)

Side question, do you avoid all animal products such as beeswax candles as well?

I adore honey too. :(

I do avoid all products which come from animals within reason. Sometimes it's a judgement call.

Boy do I ever hate the holidays. Even with a healthy brain, they'd still be way too rough.

I miss the haven of the bars.
