wow! it's great to see the forums back up and working!! I missed checking in here so much. Changed my name, I used to be MM's Mom.

Bizi, you mentioned another site...you mean there's another place I could have gone while braintalk was down??

Hi Beth,

There is another board that people were/are posting on, yes. I hadn't found that board myself until a few days ago (maybe a week), but had only posted there twice. I am so glad this board is back up again!

This is my first post since it's been back up, and it's basically a test post, because my registration wouldn't go through early this morning. Hopefully it's all fixed now. Yay! Great to be home! My depression feels a little better already! :D

Hope everyone is well!

Hello,
I'm not sure if you will remember me as I was only an occasional user, mostly to get advice about my sons (one is diagnosed, the other in limbo).

Anyway, it's nice to have the forum back. I did not know about BrainTalk2. I'm not sure what the difference is (I'm assuming they're related), but I'm guessing that a lot of former users don't know about it and will eventually check in here and see this site is up again.

I'll be starting another thread with something I recently learned about myself and bipolar.

Thanks for the cheerful greeting!

Julie

Hi Bizi,
I went to sleep at 4:00 am. Not good when I have to be at work. Even though I didn't have to be at work until 12:00 pm, it is not good. I can do better. But for some reason I start to feel panicky around bed time. I don't like to go to bed even if I am dropping off.

The new apt. is coming along. Little problems. The management had to fix a leaking fridge/freezer. Then they fixed a bath tub drain today.(We had water/plumbing problems from the first month in my old apt. They seem to follow me.)

Hubby thinks I am crazy because I smell something bad coming out of the fridge fan at the bottom. He can't smell it.
We told management about the smell today. Maybe tomorrow they can fix the fridge thing. I certainly don't know how to do it.

How was your day?
It is amazing that you have changed your life and are going to the gym. :) Is your body shape changing? The way you walk? You are an inspiration.

Take care,
Mari

Dera Mari,
I have the nose...hubby doesn't!
HOpefully they will get things all fixed up for you.
It is amazing that I continue to get up pretty regularly and go to the gym.
It should get me to bed earlier...doesn't... I am just not getting as much sleep as I used to.
I do feel better...have not lost any weight at all. I feel better knowing that what I am doing is trying to improve myself...and my image and my body...trying to move forward.....
take care and I wish you could somehow face that demon that prevents you from going to bed...
I am sorry.
(((HUGS)))

oooooo, Mari, I might have an answer - this happened to me before (the smelly fridge, I mean). Some older refrigerators have a drip pan on the very bottom (behind the little molding piece, if it has one). It can start to get stinky if it hasn't been emptied in a while.

Hope it's something this simple!!

I have been longing to get back on so I could tell you all that I listened and took your advice and went to see a psychiatrist. I was sort of surprised - I expected her to be more touchy-feely, listening cozily, but she was very cut and dried, reviewed meds and history, etc.

She started me on Lamictal, which I've been on for about six weeks or so now. I do feel better during the day. She's trying to switch me over from Seroquel to Geodon for sleep, but I'm having some trouble with the transition.

I think seroquel is more potent but then again...it depends on the person and the dose.
I like the lamictal...it seems to keep me pretty even keel and I take ambian to sleep at night.
Glad to see you here!

Beth,
The fridge is 10 years old. There's a date on the back.
Could it still be the drip pan?

I wonder if I should start taking apart the fridge myself? Or should I hope that maintenance knows what I am talking about?

In my old apt complex all of the residents had the same issues -- as one would expect. I'm guessing that that is true here and that mine is not the first smelly fridge they've seen in the apt. complex.

Sorry to be off topic.

I was waiting for an email to arrive but it didn't so I decided to try to log in after registering and it worked. I just posted on the other site.

Just stopping in to say "Hi" and "I'm glad that Braintalk is back". ;)

Mari, it shouldn't be too hard to do. If the fridge has that front bottom piece of molding, it should pull off rather easily (well, it might not be TOO easy). After that, the drip pan will be easy to remove. If you're nervous about pulling the molding off - that will be the only hard-ish part - wait for the maintenance guys to do it. But...if they don't show up anytime soon, go for it!!

Dear Beth,
I don't think I ever met a pdoc who was warm and fuzzy.
In some ways they don't really care how we feel. Mine just wants a report: how are your moods? are you still working?
Something like that.

I knew somone who was on Geodon. I think he lost a little weight.

Beth,
Hubby saw the maintenance guy outside this morning and the maintenance guy said he didn't smell anything yesterday when he was in here. Hubby said, "Me either, but my wife does."
He's going to get mileage off this joke I think because he told managment something similiar this morning too. He told the woman at the office that my friend and I could smell it so maybe it is a woman's thing.

The maintenance guy agreed to come back in here and investigate the fridge. Last night I got hit by slight nausea when I was near the fridge. The smell is gross.

I need to feel ok about this apt, that is going to be good for me.

Since it was my first visit to the P-doc, I didn't know what to expect. I thought I'd get a combination of my psychologist and my regular doctor. Nope. At least now I know what to expect. She really wants the Geodon to work for me for sleep. Last month I had some trouble with it, but I took my new doseage (160 mg, evidently enough to knock out an elephant) and I slept ALL NIGHT. With the Seroquel I'd wake up at least two or three times a night.

Now my problem is my insurance - they say I have met my "cap" for the year..which as I understand it means I'm going to be paying full price for my prescriptions for the rest of the year. Hopefully I won't need anymore Seroquel (a month cost something like $900) but even the Geodon looks like it will be about $300...plus Lamictal, bp meds, and Rozerem. Yikes. I'd better get another job.

dear Beth,
Ask your pdoc for samples...of the geodon...they usually get a ton of them.
jsut a thought!

this looks like a check in thread tho i am thoroughly amused by the various digressions the thread as taken. ;p

well... waves officially checking in here :D

Hi Beth, i hope this pdoc works out for you, and works WITH you...

Mari that fridgesquidge smell sounds just awful. male olfactory awareness is deficient, what can i say. we need more female plumbers. ewww, not me tho.

More female plumbers....LOL. At least we wouldn't be seeing their butt crack as they crawl under the sink....or maybe we would, but it would have a thong on:p

thanks for the good wishes for the doctor...my primary care doc did give me some samples (he's a great guy, I used to work for him). BUT - for some reason, I got my seroquel refilled yesterday and it went through on my insurance...this after a 20 minute conversation about how I'd met my cap, etc etc etc. Whatever, I hustled right out to get it before they changed their mind!

Hi everyone! It's so awesome to be back in the saddle. I have had some ups and some downs lately. I don't think it's medication related, it's probably more to do with my son and his violent outbursts. This morning he was in a good mood and did not act out on me. Just have to see if this lasts he was brutal yesterday morning. Anyway I don't know if any of you saw the last message I had posted here before the crash, but things are like up in the air as to what the future holds. But the jist is that I am so happy to be back with you all. It's just great! :D
