Do any of you have any suggestions for winter shoes that will not hurt badly? I have narrow feet and am struggling to find something to keep my feet warm for the trip to Mayo.

Oh maybe all of you don't know, I was able to get into Rochester Mayo. The appointment is in Dec. I'm from Texas and the winters aren't hard here at all. I don't have anything for bad weather. We're making the trip in a van where I can lay on my back. Most of you remember that I can't sit because of the pain in my bottom.

So if any of you have any info about the weather, roads, clothes, etc., it would be greatly appreciated.

I know that hunters and folks like construction guys are out in the cold so I looked. Here are a couple of sites that are interesting:

Thanks for all the links. I'm still looking, but think I may have settled on a pair. The issue of slightly dragging a foot has affected my decision. I stumble even with thin soles, and I'm afraid a thick sole will be a disaster waiting to happen in snow or ice.

Thanks for the input razzele51..
I'm not worried too much about the area where people are used to snow and ice, they know how to take care of the situation. It's all the area in between. Oklahoma for example and small places where we may have to stop on the way. We are making the trip by van. My diagnosis so far is small fiber neuropathy caused by Sjogrens. But Texas isn't able to do the skin biopsy so the diagnosis is only speculated. Also I have what they think is pudendal neuropathy. My neuropathy is feet, legs, hips, buttocks, hands and is really painful in the pudendal area. Anyway, we are hoping for a diagnosis and treatment to slow down the advancement of this neuropathy. It has been steadily advancing for the last two years. I am having severe trouble walking, seeing, swallowing, etc. The list goes on and on.

Probably more than any of you wanted to know.

Hi - I'm so glad to hear you are going to Mayo - I have been a patient at the Mayo in Arizona for five years and they are so helpful to me! It is worth the wait.
I wanted to share my shoes with you - I found these shoes at a specialitiy shoe store when I could not wear anything except an occasional slipper - mostly I go bear foot - which works for me in Arizona - but we all need shoes to go to the doctor and such.
These shoes are made of neopream - which is the same fabric good lifejackets are made from - and there are no seams inside which makes for a very breathable shoe with no edges to deal with. I wear the clogs - with a pair of plus size socks it works well for me in the winter months.
Good luck -

Thanks Annie,
It looks like they have a couple of styles in narrow. (I'm talking really narrow foot here). But the stretchiness is a real plus. I'm hoping I've got the boot situation under control. Remains to be seen tho. Once again thanks. There will probably be other people with neuropathy that will like this shoe too.

I used to buy mens New Balance shoes, bigger and wider, and have my foot doctor check the fit for me. Of course I also bought two pairs of diabetic shoes that my insurance would not pay for since I'm not diabetic. Abour $500a pop and lots of ugly, just like the mens shoes are ugly. I have now found MERRELL MOC and they work just great. Still kinda ugly but right in style, lol! Don't have to wear insoles either. My feet are numb but I have not gotten any ulcers since wearing any of these kinds of shoes. The trick for me is to wear these shoes and not go barefoot - at all. They are slip ons too so don't have to fumble to tie shoelaces with my numb hands, a big plus. They are brushed suede I think. Don't know if they are warm as my feet are dead but I believe they would be warm for you.
