as those of you know who are helping me configure my new computer, i have serious photosensitivity problems. flicker, flash, blink, glare, they all cause seizures for me.

i have everything turned off in IE. pictures. graphics. animated graphics. color. fonts. and with a great deal of help i actually got rid of Flash. totally. and it has not downloaded itself again for four months.

this means that some web sites are totally inaccessable to me. most have some problems, but some are impossible. this web site works very well, possibly because the two people who understand my problem the best and have done the most to solve it are david the firehorse and mike the zombislayer.

SpyBot has always been impossible, so i have never downloaded it. i e mailed the guy some time ago (year or two?) and explained to him that blind people couldn't use his site, let alone photosensitives. he wrote back essentially that solving the problem was not worth it to him. i was quite annoyed.

but today while being guided thru turning on firewalls and uninstalling norton i wanted to download SpyBot.

what a difference all the images had alt tags. the page was easily accessible to screen readers, screen braillers, anyone who has graphics turned off.

in the download there is an option for a blind icon. i ignored it because i knew how he was. i ought to send him an apology.

so asking really does work. changing one heart at a time.
