Okay well I stared the Lyrica last night. The doctor is slowly bringing my dose up so for the first week I just take one 75mg pill before bed. Week 2 I take two 75mg pills per day and week 3 I take three 75mg pills per day.
So here's what happened to me. I took the pill about an hour before bed last night and then I STILL woke up after sleeping for about 2 hours. I'm used to that so no big deal, but then after going back to bed I was dreaming and woke up my DH asking him to please unlock the back door!! Needless to say he was stunned that I was talking to him in my sleep. I never do that.
Does anyone know if this is a side effect of this mediation? I'm just concerned about it. Please let me know any experiences that you guys have gone through. My fear is that I might actually do something really stupid.:o

I've never tried Lyrica, but I do know that usually a side effect will be worse when you first take it. When I first started Cymbalta, I felt strange for 3-4 days, and then my body adjusted. So if the side effect is not life-threatening, I'd say take extra care for a few days and see if it subsides.
Oh, and I'm one of those people that have a reverse reaction to some drugs. If you're that way, maybe you should take Lyrica in the morning instead of at night. Things that are supposed to make you sleepy (like Benadryl) actually rev me up instead.

Thanks for your reply Michelle. I'm one of those people that medication doesn't really work on unless the dose is really high. My doctors tell me I should be a zombie and sleep like a baby, yeah right!!
I will continue to take it and see what happens. I was just afraid of doing something really stupid in my sleep, lol!!!
I have been on Lyrica for about a year. I had been taking anticonvulsants for many years so my dosages were higher than yours. I am currently taking a 300 mg capsule twice a day. I am beginning to develop a tolerence to it or my symptoms are worsening. My dosage is the maximum allowable. I didn't have any bad side effects when I started. But I usually don't.
I sounds like you were sleep walking (without the walking). My daughter, sister and mother did that on Ambien. My mother also hallucinated on Ambien. You should tell your doc about it because when my daugher had her reaction to Ambien, I found her sitting at the computer at 3 am in a chat room with guys she didn't know. God knows what would have happened if she had gotten in her car and went to meet some guy. The next morning I found phone numbers and addresses she had written down of men she didn't even know. She was 16 at the time.
I'm not saying that this would happen to you on Lyrica. Lyrica is the only medication that I have found that has given me any relief from my fibro pain. I consider it a miracle drug.

Well I went to the doctor and told her about the strange things I was doing in the night. She took me off of it. She said that if I didn't feel any less pain and was having bad side affects she wanted me to stop taking it. So she put me Lunesta for sleep. Well it's 4o'clock in the morning here and I'm awake. Aarg..........
Lisa,
I tried Lunesta too. I couldn't get to sleep on it. I have gone through all the sleep medications. The only thing that works for me is 100-200 mg Trazadone a night. Maybe you could try Lamictal for the pain. My neurologist put me on it, it's another anticonvulsant like lyrica, before Lyrica was released. It controlled some of the pain. At one point I was on Lyrica and Lamictal. Now I'm on Lyrica, Topamax (another anticonvulsant I take for bipolar), Zoloft, and Trazadone.

Pam thanks for the response!! The Lunesta worked like a charm for about 4-5 nights then it just quit working so I quit taking it too. I will talk to the doctor at my next appointment and see what she says.
Lisa,
I have also found some relief from the pain if I put a sheet in the dryer and warm it up on the cotton setting. I then wrap it around me until it cools off. Much of my pain feel like the pain you feel when you get a chill running down your body. This simple solution helps a lot and it's free.
