Hi everyone,
I know this board can get upset by when things get too off topic, but there is only so much MS news I can take, do you know what I mean? Sometimes it is fun to have a group distraction.
I remember from the old Braintalk forum (back when I was Cindy1193), we used to take turns writing fiction... and those stories began to take a life of their own and they were highly entertaining. So, any writers here? The idea is that we each write one paragraph, and see where the story takes us.
If that sounds too cheesy I was thinking of some of the other stuff we used to do. How about SONGS that might have an MS connection? For example:
Shake, Rattle and Roll
Hot Legs
You Turn Me Upside Down
etc.
Anyway, I'd like to inject some kind of group game, are you guys receptive? If not, no worries, I understand. But sometimes humor is the best medicine!
Let me know what you think.
Warm regards,
Cindy
p.s. On an MS note, I was told that my monthly co-pay for copaxone was $1,700 a month!! Is this normal?!? I'm going to have a discussion with my insurance company. I mean, that is a mortgage payment! I'm thinking it MUST be a mistake. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi cindy, I'm game, one of the reasons that I come here is to have something else to think about besides MS.
I am one of those people that can "think" something to death. I have a Merck manual that has 2" of dust on it and I never google Sx because by the time I get done I have every thing from cancer to Disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Hi Cindy,
I think it's a good idea. Maybe everyone can tell their favorite jokes.

Hi Cindy- we've had some luck w songs. I haven't been here for a novella that worked (been here through 2 major crashes).
Re: Copaxone, my co-pay w federal BC&BS is $65 for every 3 months. It went up this year from $35.

I'll start this story, a mystery perhaps?
"Lisa couldn't believe that she had to make the long and dangerous drive from Mahattan Beach to San Diego in the downpour and lightening storm that was now upon her. As she filled up her blue sedan at the local Chevron station, she peeked at her watch and realized the time was 12:38 a.m. She knew she shouldn't be driving in such an emotional state, but she had to reach Mark before it was too late. As she got back behind the wheel, a Redbull in her hand, she steadied her shaking hands as she turned the ignition and her mind returned, once again, to the thoughts of Mark and how she was going to face his family...."
OKAY. NEXT? We can let the story go anywhere you want it to go. Don't worry about writing experience or anything, this is just for fun!

Lisa was startled by a knock on her car window. She turned her head and saw the handsome Chevron attendant waving at her. "Hey Miss! Miss!" She rolled down the car window. "You forgot your change," he said, as he held out his hand to her. Their eyes met. Their hands touched.

She looked down at their hands and was keenly aware of the wedding bands they were both wearing. Hers was gold, and his looked like silver. She drew her hand back quickly, and...

Did she know him from somewhere? Yes, he was an art student she used to teach at the university. Those days were over now, but he still caught her eyes and made her dream of days gone by. Her 30th birthday had passed only a week ago and now she must deal with real life. Still, she longed for those days of innocense and simpler times.

"I see you've got a lot of luggage in your car," he said, his liquid brown eyes glancing into her back seat. "You going somewhere far away?" Lisa thought she detected a note of longing in his voice.

With the mention of the luggage, Lisa was promptly reminded of the task that stood before her. She attempted a winning smile, but felt her mouth quivering a little bit.
"It's been great to see you, but I must be going".
There was deep saddness and apprehension in her eyes, though she tried to look and sound confident. The young man studied her face, and then relucantly took a step back, as if he noticed a sort of danger in her smile...

He looked a little puzzled as if he wondered why she hadn't answered his question about whether she was going somewhere far away, and then he collected himself and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ask a question that's too personal. You don't have to tell me where you're going."

Unexpectedly she blurted out, "It's my husband! I have to tell him.........."

Lisa blushed at her unexpected outburst, and awkwardly fumbled with her keys, trying to avoid eye contact. She couldn't stop her hands from shaking, and her eyes began to brim with tears that she knew would soon overtake her.
"Please, listen, I've... I've done something terrible and I MUST go now"...

She thought it safe to to ask him if he was still painting. He was surprised by her question as her face was unfamiliar to him. How could she know about his interst in art?
