Just a BIG, FAT RANT: Am I the only directional idiot out there??

Okay...so y'all know how much I want this job. My next interview--the one position I really want--is Tuesday morning, so I made a couple of dry runs over there. Would you believe, with a GPS AND written directions, I STILL SCREWED UP??!! I didn't get badly sidetracked, but it was enough to require another 10-15 min added onto the normal 20-25 min it should have taken me. :o :( :mad:

Maybe if you can figure out what about the directions (GPS or written) messed you up, you'll have a clear go?!

Having 2 sets of directions is sort of multi-tasking. Maybe you need to chose one over the other?
Or can you choose "check points" to pull over to prepare for the next section as you go?

Last time, I just had the GPS. Both times, I quickly fixed what I did wrong, and I just took the printed directions as fallback (didn't even look until I got there), but this dang exit is WEIRD. I apparently had to stay either left or right (right, I think; I ended up back on the highway and had to take the next exit). It's Tuesday morning, and I don't know if I can go tomorrow or not. I'm gonna try...
