Hi All,
I'm missing you all and seeing so many new posters and old friends saying they are about to have surgery, I wanted to try and do a little posting.
So thought I would say sorry that for now my posts will be few, but know, I'm sending love to you all and wishing you all the best.
On the hand and arm, they are still as good as having a chocolate fire-guard, no improvement as yet (mind you didn't help falling over in the week and landing on them) and am still waiting for the filth ridden hospital to send out my results of the scan.
Saw Prof Zak on Thursday, she was amazed at the difference in size of my left arm to my right, and also said it's likely a compressed nerve from the swelling is causing the pain.. I have come to the conclusion the nerves in my body hate me :D You have to try and keep smilling or you'd go insane.
That's it for now, right handed typing can be hard going.
Love to all Tracy..x

Hi Tracy
I know it so hard for you to type right now, but I am so glad you did. We miss you on here and I for one have been wondering how you are doing. Do you have any idea what set this off? Have you ever had anything like this before? You poor dear. You have been through so much lately, with your own health and your sons. I will never every forget how helpful you were to me when I was recovering from my MVD. You even spoke to a neurourgeon in your area for me because mine was out of town. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You take really good care of yourself and pop in whenever you feel strong enough.
Tracey,
Good to hear from you! I hope your seeing some improvement? Continue to rest and get over this. You are sorely missed around here!
Love and hugs, Ellena

We all miss what you bring to the forum, and would like to have your cheerful and helpful posts back again. It's even worse when we realized that you're hurting and we can't just put our heads to work and fix it. Get yourself well as soon as possible, pal. Nancy

Hi Tracy, I am thinking of you- you have been through the royal wringer this year! Awful when the state of the hospital is something you have to deal with on top of all the pain you are having!
I am glad you are home in a clean environment, and in your own comfortable surroundings. I hope things get better for you soon, and that this silly nerve(s) of yours settle down ASAP.
Sending love and hugs your way

Hi All,
Ella that is so nice of you to say that. I have been dieting and excercing quite a lot in the last few months. I'm not sure if my arm damage is due to the exercise or not, as I just woke up one morning and my fingers were numb, gave them a shake about as you do, but the numbness never went, and over the next couple of days the pain seemed to begin from my shoulder and shoot right down to my finger tips, nerve pain, and then my arm ballooned up and it's still like it now, there's no change at all, I wish there was.
I phoned the filth infested hospital today to find out where my results are and they dont seem to be able to find the scan results arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhh..
I have to call back tomorrow, oh and they also said that I would have to wait around 6-8 weeks for the outpatients appointment, funny that the hospital closes in two weeks and a new one is opening, I bet anything, I get lost in the move... Oh damn it I'm going to raid the chocolate cupboard, I'm cheesed off with the stupid place.
Love to All.

Tracy you are one the rocks on this site, you have been there for everyone of us and we can all say that. So of course we are here for you now, always in our prayers and hoping for good days ahead.
Catherine
Tracy,
Hang in there. It sounds as if you have had one *$@!&$ of a year. One thing after another after another. Sometimes life just doesn't seem to be fair. But I guess we were never promised that it would be fair. (Could get into a whole philosphical discussion on that note.)
I wanted you to know that I have really enjoyed reading your posts over the last year that I have been on board. You have always given such helpful advice and been so upbeat. Your attitude, even when things are really crappy for you, is amazing.
Though we can't do anything about your pain and your bureaucratic nightmares, you know that you have all kinds of loving support from your friends on the forum. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

p.s. good chocolate in moderate doses is the best medicine in the world IMHO!

Tracy,
How certain are you this isn't a pinched nerve? What you describe sounds like a classic case of a pinched nerve in the upper spine. Have you tried consulting a chiropractor about it or is that not possible under your health plan?
I am prone to pinched nerves and get them from too much sitting. I have to make sure I get enough movement each day to prevent them. I also do regular back exercises to prevent them. Once you get one however, they are real hard to straighten out.

Hi Bob,
I think the nerve is compressed or pinched for sure, but would these make the arm swell to twice the size of the right one?
The consultant said when I was in the **** hole hospital, that it was more than likely the swelling that is causing the compression, but I don't know what the swelling is, and as it seems I have to wait now until my urgent (HA bloody HA) appointment 21st Feb, before I even find out what's going on with the arm, hand...
I was thinking about seeing a chiropractor, but a friend who used to work with one said they like a firm diaognosis before they can give treatment.
It sure is driving me mad, I can tell you, you don't realise how much you depend on two hands until you lose the use of one for instance, my left hand is so weak, I cant even cross my fingers..
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it..
Hope all is well for you, I often think about you and your family.
Love
Tracy....x

If you have swelling, that would make sense that it is compressing a nerve. This is a lot like TN (i.e., blood vessle compressing a nerve). Could also be some inflammation of the nerve tissues depending on what's causing this. Have they given you any anti-inflammatory medications?
I would still consult a chiropractor to see if he can help with pains. He probably can't help with the swelling, but chiropractors have a pretty good handle on alleviating compression if it something they can reach; and it avoids a lot of unnecessary pain medication.

Hi Bob,
Yes I am taking Diclofenac anti-inflammatory and also Dihydrocodeine for the pain. I'm going to take your advice and make an appoinment to see a chiropractor, I'll try anything, it's very uncomfortable putting up with this.
I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for the suggestion Bob.
Love Tracy
