View Full Version : Brain Pics?

First, let me say that I'm well aware of the fact that a person's lesion load does not necessarily dictate the severity of a person's MS symptoms. I'm not wanting to participate in the "lesion olympics" here.
My asking only has to do with my own morbid curiosity.
Does anyone have MRI images of their MS which they feel up to sharing?

Hi Cutter,
I think it's interesting to look at MRIs of the MS brain. I feel this way about it, lesion load may not necessarily dictate the severity of your symptoms but it certainly says something unpleasant.
I have CDs of my recent MRIs but I don't know how to pluck one out of there.

Hi Cutter:
The MRI's CD's are interesting. When I got my first one I spent hours going over it and comparing it to http://www.med.harvard.edu/AANLIB/home.html.
I used to tutor anatomy, so even though I don't have lesions, I had a grand time trying to match the anatomy - not like I could remember anything, it was a fun little challenge.
My third MRI had a small black spot (I don't have lesions, just atrophy). Turns out it was a subarachnoid cyst pressing on the pituitary gland. Darned if I can see the gland, but it was interesting. :D
Joy: the hospital where I get my MRI's done have CD's that load their own program. There is a bunch of pictures on the right side (stuff like a magnifying glass, arrows etc.) There is one with boxes, when I click on that it brings up the images on the left (saggital, T1, T2, axial). I can look at one large image or several or twelve little ones, depending on what set of "boxes" I pick. Hope you can figure it out, it's kind of weird looking at your brain in detail.

Thanks, Mitch! :) If you want to see a few of mine, I have links to them here (http://cutter.tblog.com/post/1969731370).
Joy, how to get them off of the CD and onto the web depends on a lot of things. If you can see them on your screen, then what you need to do next is to save them as .jpg files, and then upload them to an online account so that you can share them with others. Saving them as .jpg files depends on the software they give you with the CD so that you can view the images. If there's no way for you to even view them with what they give you, you have to get a little creative about it. You might look into a (free) program that they offer online called "EZDicom".
Wish I could explain it better than that. :(

Just a note... I now have a pic of a spinal lesion and also a "comparison" pic... my brain (with MS) and a "normal" brain (without MS).
If nothing else, it's sort of interesting (http://cutter.tblog.com/post/1969731370).
