My sister is at the beginning of what very likely will be a diagnosis of MS. Wondering about other btdts. She's had four years of symptoms here and there but lately has been falling down while walking, having trouble moving when getting up from a chair (like she feels she's getting up quickly but her body doesn't respond), and having difficulty walking up stairs. Does this sound familiar?

These latest symptoms are happening *following* a very stressful period in her life, a time now that should be relatively good. Is that unusual? I thought MS symptoms were brought on *by* stress, not following a stressor. Although, for me, my symptoms (a longtime limbolander who now has seizures instead of MS symptoms) came after stress. I hypothesized that during stress, cortisol levels were high; following stress, maybe the adrenal glands shut down for a period of time, allowing the MS antibodies to attack myelin, resulting in MS symptoms. What is the reasoning for MS symptoms *during* stress?

Thanks for your thoughts!

/There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that people will be diagnosed with MS AFTER having had some stresses in their lives. (Others of us can't attribute our "good fortune" to having had that happen, though). I don't know anything about the medical stuff .. the cortisol and adrenal glands and all that...but seems quite possible. Clearly your sister needs to seek medical attention, and undergo a thorough exam to rule out all the other things that could cause her symptoms, though, before deciding that indeed she has MS.

I know something about the Adrenal Gland, I failed a adrenal stress test last summer, it (adrenal gland) seems to be stuck 'on' (adrenal gland) even when I am asleep, another words my adrenal gland is stuck on open and is wearing its stupid self out, this is due to a life of stress compounded daily from early childhood.

When I am stressed anything can happen, just day before yesterday aftert yet again being terrorized by these 'stuck on stupid' teenagers I fell and I think cracked a rib, not need to get x-ray just wrap it up and wait to heal.

Don't think or know whether or not adrenal stress and MS have anything to due with the other. But one sure does affect the other.

All I due is take Adrenal Support by Source Naturals and try to keep my life as stress free as possible

Here is a book I've read on the subjec of Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st-Century Stress Syndrome
by James L. Wilson, Jonathan V. Wright
