I am glad that I had changed my apt or I wouldn't have been able to see her. She said it wasn't up to her that she had to leave. The hospital make cuts and moves. She said she would talk to my PC Dr to see if he would take over my care if not she had a plan B. But I think I will move over to Wilm PM. I really don't want to have my PC cause he really don't know how to care for CP patient. He tried in the past and did all things wrong. Not his fault. He is a Family Dr not a pain Dr big different. So what would you all do? PC or new PM Dr?

Hi Deb,
Since you said that your PC really doesn't know how to care for CP patients, I think, if you have the option, go to a new PM doc. I know it seems easier to just go to your PC doc but what happens when meds changes are necessary or you have a pain crisis, etc. You will want someone who knows chronic pain and is up on the latest info and meds on chronic pain treatment. I do think there are plenty of PC docs who can handle it but it does not sound like you have confidence in your PC to handle your chronic pain concerns.
I know it sucks to have to make the change. I wish you the best in finding someone new. Who knows, maybe this next doc will be the best one yet.
Take care,
Diandra

Deb, good luck with the change in PM. It is good to hear your current PM will help get you lined up with a new PM.

Hi Deb,
I am having a similiar problem. You are very fortunate to have a pc who is willing to help you if you need him to. I am having a hard time finding someone to take over my pain management. My doctor after 3 years of treatment, one day decided I should be off all narcotics. My worst fear. He started with cutting my oxycodone in half. This month he didnt do any new cuts but forgot to sign the script. I and the Pharmacy called but he still hasnt done anything about it. I will be out of meds tomorrow. He is an hour and a half away so it looks like I will have to ask my son to drive me there.
All the pain clinics ive called do not write for medication. If anyone can help me find one that does in massachusettes, south shore. I would be so grateful. My other post is called (cut in meds). It lists my issues and things I have tried ect. my councilar said I can always go to a methadone clinic where I get to go every day.
Sorry I didn't mean to make your post about Me. I Hope you make out ok. Good luck

Hey Deb, I really hate having to get a new doc, especially a PM. I have been very lucky to have been with mine for 6 years so far. If it was me I'd probably find a new PM rather than the PC. Where I am I really wouldn't have a choice. In fact yesterday I had an appointment with my rheumy and I go to a University Hospital for all my care and my husband was asking about how they dealt with pain management and they said that as far as they were aware, they ALL referred to pain management because of the crap going on and because they said the pm docs know more about the meds and stuff.
So like a lot of places, the docs here have washed their hands of it allowing the pm docs to deal with it.
I guess if you can't find a new PM you could always go to your PC or is this something you need to settle right away. Do you already have an idea what new PM your going to try?
One of the reasons my husband was asking is I travel over an hour to get to my PM so he was wondering if they could recommend someone local and if they work with someone specific. I like my PM and don't plan on leaving although he had mentioned retiring in about 5 or 6 years.
I hope you find someone good and someone you like.

My PM is 2 hours away. She said if my PC Dr didn't take up my care she has a plan B which is going to someone there. Or to a new PM some where else. She would help me get in to a new one. She will not leave me hanging with no care. She has my meds done till June so I have a little bit of time. Not much but some. I am going to Fl for a month and I called Walgreen's here and the B was working and she didn't have a clue on what I needed to do about my meds. I told her I just need her to fine out if Fla would do my meds refill. She said They have laws like we do. she always acts nasty to me. Like I am a drugy. Oh how I hate talking with her. I asked her for the home office # she said I didn't need it and they would tell me the same. Will I call the home office and they were great. They even called fl for me so I wouldn't have to my a long call. There is no troubles to get my meds. The B just wants to make things so hard. She thought I didn't know the # but my son Inlaw works for Walgreen's. A manager of a store at that. If she keep treating me bad I will make a call on her again. People don't like her. She is not a people person. But she needs to go to school how to treat people in the public. I know they are very busy people. But not this store. It is new and they don't have the people like CVS or walmat does.So she has not the work load as most do.

I may be dense or after all the meds I took may have a lot of dead brain cells but what is a PC????
I know PM or PMS is a pain management specialist, NS is neurosurgeon etc.
Try looking on spine universe website and see if there is someone there that may be close for you to change too. They have a list of PMS on there.
Good luck and hugs!

Hey Deb, I'm glad you were able to get through to the main office. It's just too bad that some people have to be nasty. I'm with you,I'd report her. After being treated so badly by a pharmacist where we used to live, I will never allow another one to do what she did to me, I will report them from now on. I am so lucky with mine now, she is fantastic. I also use a family one for compounds and things and if there is an issue at my regular pharmacy I just go to the other one and they are great as well. It's so nice knowing I will be treated nicely. I bet you just hate having to talk to her!! I used to dread going when we lived in AL, they were so mean!
I will be in a similiar situation this summer but I live in FLorida and will be going up north this summer. My meds usually have to be special ordered and I want to make sure it's set before we go. The pharmacy I use is not in PA so I'm not sure what I will do.
I'm glad it's all worked out for you! If you don't mind me asking what part of Florida are you visiting?

Going to Ft Myers. My daughter it to have Baby.
I don't usual talk with this lady most of the time I will deal with the manager. She is so good to me. the other is just a reg druggist. I went in to day and the manager was just about to leave. I had to hand my RX into her. I spoke loud so the other lady would hear me. I told her what I did and what happen and she said now that wasn't hard. She she she would have done it for me too. I told her that whats her name didn't or wouldn't tell me crap. But I got what I needed from the home office.
I am not going to put up with her crap. and if she starts trouble with my meds she will know I have been around.

Congratulations!!! You'll be further south, wave when you go by!
I just hate dealing with people who I know are going to give me a hard time. When we first moved here and I began going to this pharmacy, there was a young guy who worked mornings and early afternoons. He always gave me grief no matter what. The one I go to now is the managing pharmacist and she is there everyday thank goodness. In fact I started going to her when I made a complaint against him. He finally left although I do have to say he was a little nicer to me there at the end.
